Dota 2 (Defense of the Ancients 2) is an upcoming action fantasy strategy video game being developed by Valve Corporation. It is the stand-alone sequel to the popular Warcraft III custom map Defense of the Ancients. The title was formally announced on October 13, 2010 via the Game Informer website. The game currently is scheduled for a full release in 2012, with a public beta scheduled for the fall of 2011. The game will be released through both retail and download by Valve's content delivery platform Steam, which the game has been developed to exclusively run on for both game launch and update delivery. Dota 2 will operate on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. The game is comprised exclusively of session-based online multiplayer activity, with the primary objective of each match being for the teams to destroy their opposing team's fortified stronghold called an Ancient Fortress. Each player assumes the role of a "hero", who is given the responsibility of participating in team combat, which generally takes place along a series of lanes that connect their opposing bases, lined with defensive towers. The gameplay elements are largely incorporated from Defense of the Ancients, with the game's lead designer (known only as "IceFrog") being the longest-serving and current developer of the Warcraft III mod. Dota 2 marks Valve's first fantasy, as well as Action RTS game. Dota 2 combines the real-time strategy element of traditional top-down perspective, while also incorporating the leveling and itemization system of a role playing game. Players are pitted against each other into two distinct factions called the Radiant and the Dire. The Radiant is a light, nature-oriented faction based at the southwest corner of the map, while the Dire is a dark, volcanic-themed faction based at the northeast corner. Players assume the role of a "hero" - a strategically-powerful unit, who, through combat experience, may progress to a maximum level of 25. The basic setup of Dota 2 places two strongholds defended by towers and waves of units which guard the main paths leading to their base with critical structures called Ancient Fortresses at opposing ends of an evenly-balanced map with multiple connecting regions identified as "lanes", in which enemy units primarily traverse, while also combating powerful defensive towers along the way. Players are split into two teams, ideally in a five-on-five format, to compete as the primary defenders for each Ancient Fortress. The overall objective of each match is to battle through the opposing force's defenses, in order to arrive at and destroy the opponents' Ancient Fortress. Because Dota 2 is highly team-oriented, players must coordinate with their teams in order to achieve victory. The towers and stronghold defenses are invulnerable to attacks so long as the towers nearest to the enemy side still stand. Periodically, groups of weaker infantry units commonly called "creeps" are spawned, which move along their lane until they reach an enemy unit or structure, which they will then attack. The currency of the game is gold, which is granted periodically, but accumulates at a practical level by defeating enemy forces. Defeating forces grants a distributed amount of gold to the offending team, with the greater portion being retained by the player who delivers the killing blow. A common technique utilized to prevent the opposing faction from accumulating gold from a kill is "denying", which constitutes destroying an allied unit or structure, which is best employed when it is close to death. Players also gain experience, which accumulates to gain higher levels. The greatest proportion of gold and experience comes from destroying higher priority forces, such as enemy heroes and towers. Classic Game Room HD reviews GORF for the Colecovision video game console. Gorf was released to the arcades in 1981 by Midway and this amazing port of the game found its way to the Colecovision in 1983. It is a unique arcade game, and certainly a unique old school retro home video game, because it plays like 4 games in one (the arcade was 5 in 1). And it all gels together very well, combining elements of Space Invaders, Galaxian, Galaga, Star Wars, Star Ship and modern SHMUPS. It's a top down arcade style 2D shooter, a 3D space warp experience and an end boss battle to the death, GORF has it all! GORF is also an acronym for Galactic Orbiting Robotic Force. In case you want to pull that shit out for a dinner party or something you can be like "What's up bitches, I see your knowledge of fine wine and raise you the meaning of GORF". Classic Game Room brings you reviews of classic games like GORF as well as the newest releases for PS3, Wii and Xbox 360. This retro gamer review of Gorf is made from the actual Colecovision game cartridge and not emulation. R.U.S.E. is an upcoming 2009 Real-time Strategy video game developed by Eugen Systems and published by Ubisoft. It is scheduled to be released in 2009 for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It's a strategy game involving the players to use decoys to trick their enemies into traps. It seems that with every other announcement of an upcoming game, the developer or publisher doing the said announcing is hell bent on trying to convince the gaming public that their (sometimes questionable) unique point of difference is everything weve been looking for and more. So when R.U.S.E. rolls around and at a glance it can be seen that its an RTS title and a World War II game, the first impression is that it hardly screams originality. The one of a kind points of difference come into play when you look a little closer at the game. First up, it features a Supreme Commander-like zoom function that allows you to zoom right in, or out to a level that lets you see a whole lot more of the battlefield. Unlike Supreme Commander however, zooming out wont flatten the terrain and units into 2D markers. Zooming out completely will give you a tabletop view, complete with 1940s machinery buzzing away in the background, while the playable area is still rendered in glorious 3D. This particular feature emphasises one of the other points of difference of strategic, board game-like planning during RTS battles. There isnt a fog of war per se, as youll be able to see where your enemies are across an expansive map, you just wont be able to tell what type of units they are or how much of their force is in a particular area unless you have troops within line of sight. The main feature, which plays into the title, is the ability to use certain cards to fool your opponent into thinking you are somewhere that youre not, or hide your troops from enemy view. All in all it sounds like an interesting RTS hybrid, albeit set in a familiar era, and you can check out a whole lot more information here at Rock, Paper, Shotgun. R.U.S.E. is being developed by Eugen Systems and published by Ubisoft and is due for release in 2010 on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is a military science fiction real-time strategy video game currently under development by Blizzard Entertainment as a sequel to the award-winning 1998 video game StarCraft. The game is being developed for concurrent release on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. The release date is based upon the game meeting Blizzard's quality standards; however, parent company Activision Blizzard anticipates Wings of Liberty to be released in the first half of 2010. Initially conceived as a single game, StarCraft II was split during development into three installments: the base game which acquired the subtitle Wings of Liberty, and two expansion packs, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void. The decision was made to provide more breadth to develop the game's story.Set in the 26th century in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy, the game is built around three species: the Terrans, human exiles from Earth; the Zerg, a race of insectoids; and the Protoss, a species with vast psionic power. Wings of Liberty specifically focuses on the Terrans, while the expansions Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void focus on the Zerg and Protoss, respectively. The game is set four years after the events of StarCraft: Brood War, and follows the exploits of Jim Raynor as he leads an insurgent group against the autocratic Terran Dominion. However, unable to inflict major damage against the Dominion, Raynor's forces are relegated to the roles of mercenaries, recovering artifacts of an ancient species thought extinct, the Xel'Naga, for their enigmatic employers. The game reunites old characters from the original game, as well as introducing new characters and locations to the franchise.

StarCraft II is a trilogy of military science fiction real-time strategy video games currently under development by Blizzard Entertainment as a sequel to the award-winning 1998 video game StarCraft. StarCraft II, originally envisioned as a single game, was announced to be a trilogy at BlizzCon 2008, consisting of one game followed up later by two expansion packs, provisionally entitled Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void respectively. Unlike the original series where each game had three, 8-10 mission campaigns one for each race, each game in the Starcraft II trilogy will have only one, 26-30 mission campaign centered around one specific race. The Terrans will be in the spotlight for the first campaign, followed up by Zerg and Protoss races in the expansions. Every game in the trilogy, however, will allow you to play as any race during the single player skirmish or multiplayer and online modes. Blizzard states that the expansion packs will have lots of content and feel like full games on their own right. No release dates were announced for the trilogy.
