More power on normally aspirated Foresters comes about because of a new variable valve-lift system. Horsepower for this 2.5-liter flat four is now 173 (up from 165 hp in 2005), and Subaru says real-world drivability has been improved. The turbocharged engine in the 2.5 XT Limited model is also more powerful for 2006; it receives a 20-hp boost for a 230-hp total, and it produces fewer tailpipe emissions. Minor revisions to the manual and automatic transmissions are also part of the 2006 upgrade. Other mechanical changes this year include a slight boost to ground clearance, a retuned suspension (for sharper handling and a smoother ride, says Subaru) and improved brake feel. For the interior of this small crossover SUV, Subaru added a rear fold-down armrest, reshaped the rear seat for additional thigh support, installed a new multi-function center console and put in new tie-downs for the cargo area. The upscale L.L. Bean Edition trim also has widened water-resistant matting for the cargo area and a new Momo steering wheel. Finishing up the 2006 Subaru Forester alterations is a styling refresh that gives the Forester a less blocky-looking front fascia, new taillights and larger exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals.

Today we are going to install part number 11110 from Curt, and we are going to install this on a 2010 Kia Soul. First, to install the hitch, we are going to have to lower the exhaust. Disconnect this rubber hanger right here, and this rubber hanger here.We are going to spray it down this hanger with some lubricant. And then we can slide it off. Next what is going to happen is we are going to take down the interior fender well liners here. We will put them back in when we are done.What is going to happen is, the hitch is going to install in the bottom of the frame, where this tow hook is right here. This hook is going to be removed, and it is going to use this bolt here and another bolt on the other side. And also there are two bolts on the back side of this, alongside of the frame, that the hitch will bolt onto there. There are going to be four on the passengers side. On the outboard side of the frame, on the drivers side, where we are looking here, there are two threaded holes there. This side only uses two holes. At this point we can go ahead and install the hitch onto the vehicle. What we are going to do is put the hitch over the tailpipe and kind of work it in between the bumper cover and the tailpipe, and then we will just go ahead and slide it into position then. It would be good if you have an extra set of hands, too. Now we can go ahead and snug the bolts down. All right, at this time we can torque down the bolts, as specified in the instructions. OK, we are at the point where we can go ahead and reattach our exhaust. We will slide it back onto the rubber hangers. Now we will go ahead and put the fender well liners back into place. All right, that finishes it for our install of part number 11110 from Curt.

Cars 2 review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Cars 2 from Firebrand Games and Disney Interactive Studios for the Nintendo 3DS. Cars 2 is a game that has no idea what it wants to be. It's a game with driving, but it's not necessarily a racing game. You have to sneak around, but it's not exactly a stealth game...because you have exhaust coming out of your tailpipe. Kind of blows your cover, doesn't it? Cars 2 splits itself into two primary components. You start with a spy mission. Afterward, you go into a race. After that, it goes back to its literal interpretation of Metal Gear. I've never played a driving video game with this kind of split personality, and now that I have, I know why doctors call it a disorder. The missions are short and boring, and sneaking around as a car doesn't work. Then you're racing, which is a lot better than the game's other half...but the contrast from terrible to average makes you forget that even the racing is just average. This video review features video gameplay footage of Cars 2 for the Nintendo 3DS and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.

Seventeen Student Teams from the Nation's Top Schools Design "Green" Hybrid-Powered Vehicles; University of Wisconsin and Ohio State University Finish Second and Third Seventeen engineering teams from the nation's top universities were challenged by the Department of Energy in a groundbreaking four-year competition called Challenge X: Crossover to Sustainable Mobility. Mississippi State University took top honors, followed by Wisconsin University in second and Ohio State University in third. The University of Waterloo came in fourth, in fifth place was the University of Tulsa and Pennsylvania State University ranked sixth. The teams had to re-engineer a Chevy Equinox crossover using a range of hybrid, plug-in or fuel cell propulsion systems to increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. The Mississippi State team designed a through-the-road parallel hybrid electric vehicle powered by a 1.9L GM direct injection turbo diesel engine fueled by bio diesel (B20). It achieved a 38 percent increase in fuel economy over the production vehicle on a modified urban test cycle. Additional highlights of the Challenge X vehicles include: - Plug-in Hybrid - The University of California at Davis is the only team to use plug-in hybrid technology for the energy source for its Challenge X vehicle. - Biodiesel Fuel Source - Twelve teams used biodiesel fuel (B20). - Hydrogen Fuel Cell - The University of Waterloo has a dedicated hydrogen fuel cell for its primary propulsion source, and as a result, its vehicle emits zero emissions from the tailpipe. - Hydrogen Fuel Source - Pennsylvania State University, Texas Tech University and the University of Tulsa used hydrogen as a supplementary or secondary propulsion source. Penn State injected hydrogen into its vehicle's diesel engine as an emissions abatement strategy. - Belt Alternator/Starter Technology - Five teams, including Ohio State University and Virginia Tech, used belt alternator/starter technology for an electric performance assist in their vehicles. - Ultracapacitors - West Virginia University and the University of Akron used ultracapacitors to source high levels of power for short periods of time and recapture energy from braking. Today on this 2007 Hyundai Elantra we are going to install part number 24795 from Draw-Tite. This will also apply to Hidden Hitch part number 60872. First off I will go ahead and show you where the hitch mounts up onto the frame. Its going to be easy to install, it mounts up to the existing weld nuts on the side of the frame. :17 Looking at the drivers side frame rail, there are two existing holes. Since they are out in the elements you may want to take some time out to clean out the threads. Run it in a few threads then back it off. With older vehicles you may have to run a thread tap. We will go ahead and do that on all four bolt holes, just clean it out and get it ready. :34 Next we will go ahead and get these tabs lose in the trim. On this model here we are actually going to have cut off this trim tab right here, the supports are going to push out of the way when the hitch goes in place. Next go ahead and spray down the rubber hanger with some lubricant, and we will pull that off. We can go ahead and start raising the hitch into position. What we are going to do is actually put in the passenger side first, pull the tailpipe down, and work the hitch in and then go back over the the drivers side and put it up into position. 1:03

Today we are going to install part number V82400, from Valley, a Class III receiver hitch, and we are going to install this on a 2009 Honda Odyssey. First we will show you where the hitch installs, starting on the drivers side frame rail: this threaded hole here, this threaded hole, and this hole right here. We will pull our hardware from the inside out. Going to the passengers side, above the exhaust here, it is going to use this threaded hole, this threaded hole, and then that is all it is going to use on the passengers side. There is an extra hole on the frame of the hitch for manufacturing purposes, but it is not going to be used. OK, the first thing we will do is go ahead and lower the exhaust down here. What we will do is we will take off this rubber hanger right here and lube it down first - it makes it a little easier to pull off. The next step you want to do is inspect the threaded holes in the frame itself. What you want to do is spray them down a little bit, put a wire brush in there and try to scrape out some of the threads. And then run a bolt in and out a few times before you put the hitch up. In this case, it is virtually a new vehicle, and it is actually in very nice condition, so we will not have to worry about that today. At this point we can go ahead and start installing the hitch, hanging the passengers side on the tailpipe itself to support that while you do the drivers side first, installing the bolts. Again, this is the whole that is used for manufacturing purposes, and it is not used on the install. All right, next we will go ahead and install our hardware in this hole here. We will use the access hole farther up in the frame and back through. Pop that inside and down through. Now we have got everything started. You might have a little bit of movement. Take a second to keep it as centered as possible and then go ahead and snug down the bolts. OK, at this point we can go ahead and torque down the bolts, as specified in the instructions. At this point we can go ahead and reinstall our exhaust hanger. OK, and with that, that finishes our install of part number V82400 from Valley.
