During the monster movie craze of the 1930's, monsters from around the world moved to Los Angeles to sell their stories and get movie deals. Unfortunately, they all got screwed over by Hollywood executives who stole their ideas and left them broke. So by the late 50's there is a monster underclass fairly well-established in the shadow of Hollywood. Renfield ( the bug-eating sycophant from Dracula ) and Igor (Dr. Frankenstein's bumbling assistant) are private detectives fighting to protect the monsters that have no one else to protect them. A tongue-in-cheek detective tale - it's pure noir, but all the femme fatales are zombies, the gangsters little green men and the most dangerous monsters of all are humans.

An intriguing insight of how the moon has inspired two artists. Contemporary artist Petar Tale and old master Elsheimer have very contrasting but equally compelling visions which make for revealing viewing. In Flight into Egypt, Elsheimer shows how well it was done in the past while Tale’s paintings offer hauntingly original insights laden with allusion. Written and narrated by Janet Wilson. Directed by Magnus Horthe. More on www.talemuseum****

The recent Hockney on Turner Watercolours, sponsored by B.P. at the Clore Gallery, Tate Britain earlier this year provoked strong interest – an excellent time to recall the watercolor landscapes of Petar Tale, the Montenegrin born Norwegian artist. The shared subject matter here makes for revealing contrast. J.M.W. Turner’s work anticipates later 20C developments in art. The work of Petar Tale, often measuring 1 x 1.5 metres, demonstrates that the golden age of is alive and more to the point kicking. Visit *******www.talemuseum****
