Revolution!! ^_^ Stepmania Starts! =D Memoirs Part 6 of 100 by Tiger M. Gales [TIGER M] Who Is Asukya Langley Sohryu? ********** Hey everyone! =D This week I decided to reflect on my stepchart for "Asuka Strikes!" and yes, that's the actual name of the song with the exclamation mark and everything. =3 The song is featured in Hideki Anno's debatably most successful and well-known anime to date: Neon Genesis Evangelion. Grab Your Partner and Step Left & Right! ^_^ ********** The theme "Asuka Strikes!" is Asuka Langley Sohryu's introduction theme composed by the amazing and talented Shiroh Sagisu and in my humble opinion represents her character very very well. If you've played the video game for Sega Dreamcast titled Skies of Arcadia then the character "Aika" may make an awesome character ref. [although ...there are quite a few differences]. Asuka has a "rough-girl-takes-no-crap" kind of "rugged-country" aura to her which I personally believe this song refers to well. On the stepchart, during creation of it, it was becoming debatable at first if an intriguing [not to mention 'synced up and fun'] stepchart could come from a song without a drum-heavy pumping dance beat. The song as you will hear [if you decide to play the stepchart or listen to the song of course ^^;] is made from all fiddling violin strings, bass and light-hearted "country-style-drums" that create this short-orchestral master piece. =) [in my humble opinion] Cruising along at a speedy 216 Beats Per Minute to keep in time with the 'Two-step-timing' of the track; The Oni-Only Challenge steps total 714 rhythm-driven 9-foot Oni tap steps with streamline bursts laced with fun blazing freeze steps lightly dashed with BPM breaks for taste. ^_^ [on time with the music of course!] The stepchart, like nearly all of the charts I created during his time -- and will very likely will continue to create similar choreography -- are meant to be both pad and "hand dance" [keypad/keyboard] friendly. These steps were shaped and shared with pure passion so please feel free to enjoy! =D At Bemanistyle around late-2003 early-2004 during this stepchart's initial release, the file did indeed receive well over some 2,500 downloads from what I understand and was critically acclaimed. =) The only complaint I've heard thus far is "Great Stepchart -- but I don't really like this song!" lol. =) It's up to YOU listener! =D Enjoy! Dance! Revolution!! ^_^ Back To The Dance Floor = Back To The Memories! =D ********** Indeed the very first time that I heard this song by 321 Stars and Air songs creative producer DJ Simon was around 2002 and 2003 when on Bemanistyle**** I had been blessed to have enough Bemanistyle credits to download the memorable uptempo song. =) From what I understand, the song is from a game or album called "Tribal Lounge" and has a "tap-tap" rhythm that has caught my ear ever since I would listen to dance and hip-hop music focused and seriously between the ages of 14 and 17. =) The song that I thought "Sounded Like a song that Busta Rhymes" [one of my favorite rappers at the time and still this is true] would "sound off" to... also in my mind "sounded like" an interesting stepchart that I was curious why it had not made it into a Dance Dance Revolution Game that I had played nor had a stepchart on B-style. So I decided to make one and this was the result! The Big Idea? ********** The general idea for this stepchart was to create a stepchart that "looks," "feels," and "sounds," like a song that would be played in a mainstream Dance Dance Revolution game! =D Since the song 321 Stars by DJ Simon was a favorite of me and especially my younger sibling's while we were just learning how to "tap-step" 8-foots together [*smiles at the memories ^_^*] -- the initial idea was to put together a continued or "follow up song-and-stepchart" together that we could play together on the RedOctane USB Dance pad that we each would share in the comfort of our parents' home at the time [we were all in our teens and I had just started Darton when I had completed this stepchart. =) Ah... fun memories!] This was the result! After I uploading this stepchart to Bemanistyle**** [which I had learned of by the way at a since-closed website which I to this day still admire called "Kamek's Kastle of Kool Krap! ^^], the community seemed to honestly enjoy the stepchart. So hopefully you will enjoy this amazing music and SUPER-SYNCED Stepchart [be sure to turn on the assist tick! =D] much thanks to the amazing rhythms and sounds of the one-and-only DJ Simon! When "Simon Sez" "Dance..." we DANCE! =D [if we want to ^^;] Thinking back on how influential this track has been in my life--I would go to say that vey likely -- although I was not thinking about it at the time--album "It's Go Time Baby, Your Place Is The Dance Floor!" was more than likely title-influenced by the name of this song! [albeit 3 years later! =D] Please enjoy! =D Forever In Love With All That Which Exists (That Which Is Seen & Unseen, Known & Unknown), -Tiger M. But it is not constantly true that any artist, person in a so-named serious relationship or decided business deal is necessarily wholly satisfied with her or his work. =3 Proud of this one though. ^_^ The very first time that I took the time to put this stepchart together and play it with my siblings was after purchasing a CD much thanks to a local mall music store that was once known as Turtle's Music later turned to F.Y.E. - For Your Entertainment (a music and entertainment media store. =3) Hearing Busta Rhymes and Jim Carey on the same song was a fun and invigorating experience but after hearing another song from Smash Mouth [at the time "Walking On The Sun" and "All Star" was all the S.M. I'd heard] I decided that some Christmas--although my parents did not celebrate it me and my siblings did!--I was going to purchase the CD "How The Grinch Stole Christmas Soundtrack" sometimes in the future. That "Sometimes in the future" was some 3 years later. Haven't ever regretted it! ^_^ One-Two Step! ...Well... GALLOP-two ONE-step! ********** The "Double-tap" swing beat of this excellent song [in my humble opinion] alongside the fun-cool vocals of Smash Mouth shape a song that was a joy to put together--but tricky as well. The BPM is fairly pretty awkward -- especially for a conventional Dance Dance Revolution stepchart--but THIS IS STEPMANIA! =) Be certain to turn on the "Assist Tick" to nod-head and swing along with the fun tap steps. =3 Some may feel more like doing a "tap-dance routine" than a "DDR-Club-Stage" dance! XD The breaks and the beat and the flow and feel of the stepchart is meant to feel that way. =) Hope you'll enjoy! =D P.S. And yeah. The stepchart is done. If in the end you feel there was going to be more to the road but now there is a "Deteur Sign" at the end after the final "forward" freeze arrow you're right! What initially was going to be a full length "Long Play" stepchart with possibly 4 levels of play, turned out to be the typical proverbial "highway" [one-way-fast-fun-fast-paced! =D] stepchart with one level. Enjoy! And remember to turn on those assist ticks! Makes this song [and most well synced songs!] twice the fun!
