Balanced Health Today Call Now 1(888)277-4980 Neuromuscular tension is emotional, physical, or mental stress that affects the nerves and muscles. Some experts believe chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is caused by men who continuously or frequently tense their pelvic floor muscles. Over time, the accumulation of tension in the pelvic muscles can result in chronic pain. Neuromuscular tension that can lead to chronic prostatitis is sometimes referred to as a “headache in the pelvis.” Just like men who hold tension in their neck and shoulders can get chronic headaches, men who tense their pelvic muscles can get chronic pelvic pain syndrome. Men who tense their pelvic muscles usually are not aware they are doing so. However, after years of holding in stress, chronic prostatitis may occur. Chronic tension disorders and pelvic floor disorders, which are related to neuromuscular tension, are said to make up about half of the chronic prostatitis cases. When diagnosing prostatitis, a doctor may sometimes feel the tight or hard muscles on either side of the prostate during a digital rectal exam. Experts who believe neuromuscular tension is one of the chronic prostatitis causes also point out that traditional treatments do not work. Instead, experts note that men need to take steps to relieve the cause of the stress to directly treat the built-up tension in the pelvic muscles and to take steps to help with stress and emotional health. One of the alternative prostatitis treatments that has been found to be effective is trigger point release therapy. The success of this treatment approach in relieving chronic prostatitis is a main reason why neuromuscular tension is believed to be a cause of chronic nonbacterial prostatitis, at least in some men. Prostate massage is also a technique some men find helpful. Another step that men with chronic prostatitis can take is to learn relaxation techniques that will relieve the tension in the pelvic muscles.

Balanced Health Today Call Now 1(888)277-4980 Lymph Drainage Massage Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDT) encourages the body to process and remove stagnant fluid, toxins and wastes as a result of improved lymph flow. As lymph fluid passes through lymph nodes, the body generates production of more lymphocytes to reinforce immune response and support antibodies against foreign substances. The lymphatic system collects excess fluids in the body and serves as a filtering system to screen out foreign pathogens. This system is a networked chain of vessels spaced throughout the body that drains lymph fluid from surrounding tissues and discharges it back into the bloodstream. The main functions of the lymph system are to manage fluid levels and filter out bacteria, as well as containing leukocytes (white blood cells) as part of the immune system. Lymph fluid is filtered through the spleen, thymus gland, and lymph nodes before being emptied back into the blood. Lymphatic flow can stagnate for many reasons such as swelling, chronic inflammation, lack of physical activity, stress, age, fatigue, and tight-fitting clothing. Diminished lymph circulation results in less effective cell regeneration. This permits toxins and proteins to accumulate around the cells, leading to cellular de-oxygenation. Balanced Health Today Call Now 1(888)277-4980 The way external radiation therapy affects your skin is similar to what happens when you spend time in the sun. It may look red, sunburned, or tanned. It may also get swollen or blistered. Your skin may also become dry, flaky, or itchy. Or it may start to peel. Be gentle with your skin: * Don't wear tight clothing over the area that's being treated. * Don't scrub or rub your skin. To clean it, use a mild soap and let lukewarm water run over it. * Avoid putting anything hot or cold on the area unless the doctor tells you to. * Ask your doctor before you use any type of ointment, oil, lotion, or powder on your skin. * Ask about using corn starch to help relieve itching. * Stay out of the sun as much as possible. Cover the area getting radiation with clothing or hats to protect it. Ask the doctor about using sunscreen if you must be outdoors. * If you’re having radiation therapy for breast cancer, try not to wear a bra. If that isn't possible, wear a soft, cotton one without underwire. * Don't use any tape, gauze, or bandages on your skin unless the doctor tells you to. Your skin should start to feel better a few weeks after therapy ends. But when it heals, it may be a darker color. And you’ll still need to protect yourself from the sun even after radiation therapy has ended.

Trigger points are pressure points that have developed within the muscle. They are bands of muscles that have become too tight and create a tender area in a muscle that causes generalized musculoskeletal pain when overstimulated. Most often trigger points may result from stress in the muscle fibers from an acute trauma or repetitive micro-trauma.
