One of the main BMW stories in Tokyo is about how performance and efficiency do fit together. Before a sculptural backdrop of some of the latest BMW engines and many of BMW´s finest engine optimization measures, Dirk Arnold explains how BMW EfficientDynamics is currently being implemented across the BMW model range to achieve a broad-scale effect. Taking a mid-term perspective Dirk Arnold moves to the very front of the BMW stand where a further highlight of the Tokyo Motor Show 2007 is spotlighted: the BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid. This concept study of BMW's first all-hybrid vehicle demonstrates the potential of a combination of the internal combustion engine and electric drive when implemented in a form that is true to BMW. Moving on to the BMW Hydrogen7 which is presented side-by-side to the BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid, Dirk Arnold comments how this is another showcase for BMW´s understanding of how BMW EfficientDynamics goes beyond isolated building blocks. The BMW Hydrogen7 is the first produced premium limousine in the world fueled by hydrogen liquid with water emissions. It's not an end solution, but a manufacturable proof-of-concept of BMW´s vision of emissions-free driving. And one BMW wants the world's influencers to see up close, and try for themselves.

The Tokyo Motor Show coincides with the launch of the latest edition of the most iconic of car games: Gran Turismo. Available to download for a limited time beginning with the Tokyo Motor Show, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be available initially with seven vehicles only. BMW is the only European brand that is exclusively featured in the game with the BMW 135i Coupe. Driving wheel-to-wheel at breakneck speeds in a BMW 135i Coupe race series on the Fuji Speedway, with the public cheering your way, with a burst of flags and camera flashes as you pass by the pitlane, is one of the great thrills in life - even if it is only virtual. Gran Turismo 5 offers photo-real cars with simulated handling physics, being thrown about in high-definition worlds, which recreate tracks in astonishing detail. Just as the BMW Concept 1 Series tii is showcasing the BMW 1 Series Coupe´s undeniable performance and personalization potential, Jan-Christiaan Koenders reveals that it has been confirmed that as of next year the BMW Concept 1 Series tii is going to make its way in the latest edition of Gran Turismo!

The world premiere of the BMW M3 Sedan in Tokyo follows only a few weeks after the sales launch of the sporty and elegant BMW M3 Coupe. While there hasn't been a BMW M3 Sedan since the E36 generation, Carsten Pries explains that doesn't mean BMW had forgotten how to build a blisteringly fast sedan. The new M3 Sedan takes everything good about the M3 Coupe and adds two doors to the mix (allowing you to better justify the purchase with your significant other). A lot of components specially developed for the M3 Coupe have been used in the M3 Sedan too: the front end is strongly inspired by the M3 Coupe, with wide fenders, a dramatic front clip, bulging hood and vented quarter panels. Out back, a small lip spoiler sits atop the trunk, while M-specific quad pipes let BMW M cognoscenti know that they're behind something special. As a top athlete in the four-door sedan segment and an individualist amongst high-performance sports cars, the vehicle has already captured a unique position. Thanks to the racing genes of a track-tested chassis as well as the newly developed 4.0-liter V8 high-revving power unit delivering 420 bhp, the lightweight (1680kg) sedan is capable of achieving a most impressive driving performance of 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. With the M3 Sedan lined up in a Motorsport-Paddock with its M siblings M3 Coupe, M5 Sedan and Z4 M Roadster as well as the BMW Sauber F1 race car, Carsten Pries explains the substantiation behind the message “How much Formula 1 is in your BMW?”
