My ode to the rain in LA, which has caused Cali to go into a state of emergency. Hopefully, the rain lets up soon. :)

Even before the Tony Awards are given out, there are clear winners and clear losers.
“The 65th Annual Tony Awards nominations are out--and this year--it's all about ‘The Book of Mormon’--the critical and box-office darling brought to you by the creators of ‘South Park.’ Out of contention, ‘Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark,’ which was supposed to be this season's big hit, but imploded after a chain of serious mishaps and accidents.” (Video: KVUE)
Vanity Fair points out, Broadway’s most expensive musical in history was left out -- but it won’t be forgotten.
“Why Spider-Man Received No Tony Nominations—And It’s Not the Reason You Think (I.e., It’s Bad) … Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark (No, Wait, Turn On the Dark Because This Is a Mess) received no nominations—but only because it’s still in previews. Next year, it sweeps.”
Okay, so the Spider-Man snub was a technicality. But according to E!, there was one name left off the coveted list which came as quite a shock.
“Harry Potter's own Daniel Radcliffe. He’s received rave reviews in ‘How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.’ Sadly the Muggles seemed to have snubbed the musical star.”
The LA Times says it’s about time Broadway recognized the difference between selling tickets and having talent.
“Perhaps we've just reached the saturation point. Daniel Radcliffe might be able to keep ticket sales afloat with his Harry Potter fan club, but Tony nominators were not blind (or should I say deaf?) to the musical limitations of this game rookie. … but this wasn't so much a backlash … as a recognition that talent doesn't always carry a name brand.”
Finally, a blogger for The New York Times says -- maybe the Tonys are just growing up.
“What’s this? A full slate of real, original plays – and I mean plays, like mom and dad used to dress up for and would talk about over martinis afterward. Though the Tony nominations announced Tuesday morning didn’t offer many surprises ... it did confirm some good news. Legitimate dramas are still being written, and they’re being written well.”
The Tonys will air on CBS June 12th. You can see a full list of the nominees in our transcript section.

For singer and songwriter Randy Wilson, a career in music has been a dream deterred. Often being criticized in the past as sounding too much like Luther Vandross, this R&B artist eventually turned to a job as a truck driver to make a living. “I’m on the highway a lot,” Wilson says, “Sometimes I’m tired and thinking of things to keep me motivated so I can get from one point to the next. That’s when I think of most of my songs. I used to think I couldn’t write unless I was in my truck.”
Now, after honing his new signature sound, Randy Wilson is reviving his promising music career which he has abandoned twice before, poised and ready to step back onto the music scene and realize his dream.
He and Producer, Robert Anderson, just wrapped up his second project “Up Close and Personal” for which he wrote all the songs. Randy recently shared the stage at the Conga Room in LA with R&B greats Stevie Wonder, Lenny Williams, D’Wayne Wiggins of Toni! Tony! Tone!, Jamie Fox and Raphael Saadiq in a benefit fundraiser and received kudos for his performance.
