The Fox River Trail is a paved bike path in Northern Illinois west of Chicago. On July 5, 2008 we began in Carpentersville at Otto Engineering on Main St. On the east bank, from just below the Carpentersville Dam, we went rollerblading and bicycling north on a 4.5 mile section of the trail. Cycling out of the forest and up onto a bluff, a clearing widens into a spectacular view. This is a good place for birdwatching; to see water birds and herons. Just north of the bluff is the Fox River Shores Forest Preserve, which has parking and facilities. The bike path then runs along a narrow strip between a riverbank fishing spot and Algonquin Road, where there is more parking. One block is unpaved, with limestone screenings. Near a red barn, the trail crosses Bolz Road into Algonquin and runs behind neighborhood back yards. The Fox River Trail is easily accessible to people biking, jogging, rollerblading, hiking and fishing. You can commune with nature, but you won't be alone. Please help clean up litter. There are relatively few street crossings. In the forest it is not unusual to encounter fallen trees on the path. Soon after the trail passes from Kane County into McHenry County, it crosses the Fox River on a bridge that was once for the railroad. On the west bank, another bridge crosses a street. Watch for loose planks. Just east of Route 31 in Algonquin, Illinois, don't miss the rest spot with picnic tables tucked into a nook hidden by native tall prairie flowers. Across Route 31, the path continues north away from the river bend.

This is my 1980 Yamaha DT Enduro 175. I got it for free from my dad's friend about 5 years ago. I cleaned it up a bit and the engine was in pretty good shape so all I did was replace the gaskets. I also had to replace the handlebars so I used some stock Honda CRF230 ones that were just laying around. Other than that just about everything, besides maybe the tires and battery, is stock. It is an air cooled, oil injected two stroke. It doesn't have nearly the power band of todays two strokes but it was really meant as a trail bike. The wiring is really messy and you have to kill it with the key instead of the kill switch or else you get a nice electric shock which I have gotten too many times. I don't really ride it that much but when I do it is really fun. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
