“What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, man would die from a great loneliness of the spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man” -Chief Seattle Populations: LIONS= 35,000 and going down. TIGERS= 4,000 and going down. HUMANS = 6,680,000,000 and going up. I wish we could split the planet in half and those that don’t care could have part and those of us who are willing to work and sacrifice to make the planet a better place for future generations could have ours. But life doesn’t work like that. Some would go to a great museum like the Field Museum and have a great time; I go and become more cynical  I find it interesting how we treat our wildlife. And see it as a reflection at times of how we treat each other. We tell the locals to protect the lion in Africa, meanwhile any westerner with enough money can trophy hunt it, or eat them in a fancy restaurant in America. The Tiger is endangered and finally seeing protection in India, yet still falls to poachers due to the Asian medicine market, or as we saw last year in Dallas, Texas can be owned as a pet (where they are not endangered) and shot and killed with little laws protecting it. Wildlife groups go to court using time and money to protect wildlife, as other agencies fight to get them taken off of list for various reasons. Wildlife conservation is a mess. The human situation is another mess, where just in my lifetime the population has doubled. Have we evolved twice as much, or are we twice as happy? I doubt it. The poor are having multiple children putting themselves in a bigger financial hole, and the wealthy go through resources like there’s no tomorrow. I see people complain about the environment as they load their super strollers holding four kids and one in each arm into their mini van. Oh well… Some interesting sites: *******www.populationconnection**** *******www.vhemt**** *******www.population-awareness**** *******www.trojancondoms**** The One Campaign: *******www.one**** The -1 Campaign: *******www.myspace****/bripi

Patricia Pardy, of It’s your event., shares with you her expertise and knowledge acquired while employed in the hospitality and tourism industry for over 15 years. Along with her Bachelor of Arts Degree and honors diploma in Tourism/Hospitality Management, Patricia successfully completed a four month wedding planning course from Humber College in the winter of 2007. Both her work and educational experience have provided her direct, hands-on experience in the field of sales and event management. As a former Event Manager with a luxury hotel & casino in Halifax, NS, Patricia had the pleasure of managing countless conferences, meetings, holiday parties, corporate dinners, fundraising events, family celebrations and of course, weddings! While employed in this position, Patricia recognized that many of her clients consciously decided to plan and manage their own event (for various reasons) without the assistance of a professional event planner. However, for those clients who had never organized a large scale event before (such as a wedding), she quickly realized that they were in need of professional advice and guidance ~ which she was always very happy to share. From this work experience and client feedback, Patricia decided to step out on her own to bring forth her ideals, insider tips and expertise to individuals planning their own event in Atlantic Canada. She envisioned an affordable and fun Do-It-Yourself workshop assisting individuals how to successfully organize their own amazing event! The seed was planted and It’s your event. was formed.
