As the title betrays, Songs and Saddles is a quaint and enjoyable piece of Wild West musical Americana. Gene Austin was already a country music star, possibly the first ever true “crooner.” Songs and Saddles puts Austin on center stage, playing a cowboy hero who stops every once in a while to play a tune or two. In fact, Austin embarked on a singing tour with the film, showing it at his performances. The story is a western classic: a rancher is trying to be bought out by villains who know the value of the land is about to skyrocket. Austin does surprisingly well in the saddle for a first time cowboy, but the real joy of the film is to be found in the wonderful music. Songs and Saddles is a great way to enjoy country music from the nineteen thirties.

Six-Gun Rhythm features masterful crooner Tex Fletcher as a singing Wild West hero, but there’s a twist: Fletcher isn’t a cowboy! Most unusual for these films, Fletcher is a football star on the East Coast who’s heading out West to investigate his father’s murder. The film is a startlingly fresh blend of action and song, making it one of the best Westerns of the nineteen thirties. Six-Gun Rhythm builds to a (literally) blistering climax, when Fletcher takes on his father’s murderer in a sandstorm! Though Fletcher would not go on to a long movie career, at least he left us this nugget of cinematic Wild West gold.

Al Wilson's video performance of his song, Destination Paradise, which outlines the terrible case of Schapelle Corby, an innocent suffering, whilst the world does nothing. His lively country and western style and strong lyrics create a forceful protest at the shameful inaction of both government and media. For more information visit: www.schapelle****

"Malhaar" means Rain. This band splitted, Shafqat Amanat Ali is replaced by Rameez Mukhtar, but both; Fuzon band & Shafqat Amanat Ali doing wonders separately in the music industry.
