With Frederick Hodges at the piano, singer Ann Gibson sings two songs popular in America during World War 1.
First is "I'm Going to Follow the Boys" by Henry Burr and Elizabeth Spencer, from 1918. It relies on the popularity of "Over There" in its chorus.
Second is an anti-war song, "I Didn't Raise My Boy to Be a Soldier", written in 1915 when war broke out and used for the cause of keeping America out of the war. It features music by Al Piantadosi with lyrics by Alfred Bryan.
Hodges and Gibson perform regularly in the San Francisco Bay area. See *******www.frederickhodges**** for details.
Recorded during the WW1 set on Friday, 16 November 2007 at the 21st annual West Coast Ragtime Festival, in Sacramento, California.
May we all remember the fighting and the killing big time, ww1, ww2, korean, vietnam and many more ugly, killing wars
Classic Game Room reviews DARKEST OF DAYS for Xbox 360 where you fight your way through history in this very interesting and bizarre first person shooter! Ever wanted to tear through the American Civil War with a futuristic machine gun, or run through the trenches in WW1 with superballs that save people from being wiped out of time??? Well, if you can take the technical glitches and jerky gameplay then you may really dig Darkest of Days for Xbox 360. This CGR review of Darkest of Days has gameplay from this science fiction / historical shooter where you engage in combat during the Civil War, WW1, WW2 and more. Antique weapons and sci fi artillery are at your disposal, but not all at once. Darkest of Days may just be the weirdest FPS you'll ever play with a lengthy storyline and odd animation scenes. It's not for everyone, but for those who enjoyed the Highlander TV show or Quantum Leap it may be right up your alley.
Classic Game Room reviews RISE OF FLIGHT the First Great Air War for PC. This WW1 World War 1 flight simulator is one heck of a game chaps. Drop seven pillars of whoop ass on enemies with World War 1 airplanes like the Spad and Niuport 17! Fly WWI missions with a variety of planes and machine gun observation balloons, other pilots and everything that you can see. The scars of trench warfare are below you as you fly over no-man's-land and bomb cannons. Visually stunning with an enormous amount of detail, Rise of Flight will be a dream come true for many flight game enthusiasts. With all of the "easy buttons" turned off the game is a flight simulator where your plane is batted around in the wind like a paper airplane. You can adjust difficulty and tweak the physics to make it more arcade-style, which is what I did. Gameplay is relatively smooth, sounds great and packs an enormous sense of scale and realism. This CGR review of Rise of Flight has gameplay from Rise of Flight showing airplane combat from World War 1 in this WW1 flight simulator action video game for your computer! Works with flight stick or keyboard (use a flight stick). You can turn your guy's head around and look out the plane with the mouse. Outstanding graphics and details in the cockpit, could have used more monsters though.
The trailer to one of the greatest movie.
