  • I've heard about that

Water explodes when you heat it up in the microwave by itself. Never seen it till now.

  • true...

this is true. The only fact is, that the water must be totally clean, aka normal water dont do the trick.

  • ALLRIGHT, LET'S PUT THIS BABY TO BED!

DISTILLED water will not boil. TAP water will. The difference is the mineral content or "contaminants" in the water. When you heat DISTILLED water to 100C THEN add a contaminate, such as the spoon, it will boil. TAP water will simply boil by itself because of the minerals it has dissolved in it.

  • u guys...

did u guys use distiled water when you did this, or tap water.

    By lonewolfzor 1206052530
  • It's half true

That happens when you use distilled water. But tap water and bottled water are safe.

  • tap water won't work

you have to use distilled water since it has no impurities like tap water meaning it can't boil and the water will "explode" when disturbed.

  • dumb

im 16 and that was on the border line of stupidity. The molecules are moving fast because there hot. They are trying to spread out but when there is something cold the molecules will ruch to cool down.

    By lost2010 1199823326
    • hey stupid

molecules don't "try" to do anything

      By (sic)ken 1203886424
    • You being 16

has what to do with it? Pay attention in English not Science. Your grammar S**ks and it's rush, not "ruch".

      By pdubski 1202876200
    • LOL

so what happens when the molecules "rush to" cool down ? they boil or explode ? LOL liar.
The water distilled explodes because a contaminate ( the spoon) is added.
