the idiot was worried about ear protection and didn't even notice she wasn't holding the gun correctly. The idiot shouldn't have started her on such a powerful gun either.

I don't know why you would need a scope on a shotgun. She should have had the gun nestled against her shoulder and not so far up.
It's normally not the case for a shotgun to need a scope. As someone already mentioned, it most likely was firing slugs from a rifled barrel. Scope slugs is usually a turkey hunt. Some may even use on big game but most prefer actual rifles in that situation. This was all bad and NOT proper gun safety!
Here in Wi. there are areas where you can only use shotguns for deer. I'd say about half of us use scopes. The slugs these days are accurate enough to actually use a scope.
If she actually knew how to handle the weapon when you aim the bottom of the stock should be high in the shoulder just as she had it.

I see that plutonium93437 hit the bullseye!!! WHY would have a scope on a shotgun??? DUH... shotguns ( no scope )along with improper positioning. NO ONE should shoot kneeling down, and if you have to then lean forward slightly. clearly the ( so called instructors ) are at fault.
Some people hunt with shotgun slugs and use a scope, some shotgun slugs are quite
accurate to 100 yards.

It's not a shotgun..it's a sniper rifle..can't u see the secondary zoom...shotguns don't have secondary zoom...her position was wrong a little bit...sniper rifle should be positioned 45 degrees from earth..that is it should be straight..when u want to shoot an object in ground only ur head should bend...

What's his issue? He didn't need to stand behind her. And by doing so, he didn't give her body (and head) enough distance to take the shock.
the so called instuctor should have not stood behind her he caused the head wound also warning her the rifle would kickback might have helped.

My mother went on an elk hunting trip and she went to shoot her elk she found. She is right handed and left eye dominant so she unknowingly moved her head to sight with her left eye. She shot the rifle and it broke her nose. Sucks when it happens but you have to laugh.

Firstly the rifle butt shld be at her hallow part between the shoulder and chest, without tat support thats why the gun flew back n hit her eye. n body shld lean forward n look nearer to the scope.
If ya know anything about guns, this is the most common accident that happens when someone shoots a scope for the first time. Didn't show her how to properly shoulder the shotgun, no eye, or ear protection, has her shooting probably 3" magnums when she should start off with lowbase light loads. If anybody knows this so called instructor SHOOT HIM he deserves it!!!!
