actually planes can land on water, they are designed to "ditch", if the pilot is good enough and the angle is correct the plane will not disintigrate, my two cents worth!

There was a real-life incident sort of like this - a hijacking gone wrong - the plane ran out of fuel just over (I think) the Seychelles Islands and the pilots had just enough power left to do a dead stick landing in the water off of a well-populated beach. Unfortunately, there were fatalities (apart from the hijacker, who gives a ---- about him) but everyone involved agreed that the pilot, co-pilot and flight crew went above and beyond the call of duty and did some of the finest emergency flying ever done in an airliner.
Great ad! Had me thinking it was a real incident!
