Hell Fire Austin stars amiable cowboy hero Ken Maynard, as well has his horse, Tarzan the Wonder Horse (originally just named Tarzan, until a lawsuit with Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs). Maynard and Tarzan become embroiled in a championship horseracing feud between rival ranchers. Since Maynard was a trick rider before becoming a movie cowboy, Hell Fire Austin is the perfect platform for his ample abilities. But surrounding the race itself is backstabbing and under the table deals which punctuate this engaging film.
