we did this experiment in elementary school. This is a supercondoctive (zero resistance R=0) material, but it is only superconductive under temperatures below -78 degrees C, that is why you need to cool it down with liquid nitrogen and when it is superconductive it also becomes a perfect dimagnet so magnets can levitate above the material.

The black block is not iron but yttrium barium copper oxide superconduct sold broadly in web stores. The "solution" is pure liquid nitrogen in freezing -317°F Temperature.
