NightVision Headset Hack!

hey great vid, kip (as always).

i found the LEDs on ebay, but where'd you get the microcamera? did you order it online? if so, can you give the link to the store?

also, did the LEDs you use give off a slight reddish glow? i know that if you use pure infrared (950 nm) then sometimes cameras aren't as good at picking them up, but 850nm seem to have a reddish glow. is this noticable?

great vid kip. You never seem to stop amazing us. I hope to someday walk in your shoes. I just need a good camera lol. only suggestion is instead of using the L.E.D.'s I'd recommend maybe using infared L.E.D.'s. You can find them in the beddings of remote controls. I'm sure you could maybe find a few at a hardware store. They're invisible to the eye but can be easily cought on film. They may not be as bright, but it'd be more suspicious, lol. Great vid kip... I'm always looking forward to your next one... always..

I was just wondering. Those glasses u made a while ago with the diffrent color lenses, didnt they block all the light exept the ir? If so, could you not use those glasses and the irflashlight toghterer instead of the whole camera thingy? please respond, I´d love to know^^

I wonder if you could build a regular infrared LED array with just a power source for all cameras that 'see' in the dark. Sort of like a light source for the dark

You should totally make a video about how to make a portable video receiver now... like a brief case with an old LCD screen inside that you use to receive signal from a wireless video camera. They sell those tiny wireless cameras with receivers, so half of the work is done already.

I have everything I need to build this. How did you determine which wires were which on the viewfinder? I'm an Electronics Tech, so if I had a schematic I would have no problem, but I can't find one anywhere.

Since you can do this with an old camcorder, could you modify it to where you have mightvision goggles? That would be so kickass!!!

ok i got a view finder like yours just a samsung.

I Got Ma Cam In The Mail About 3-4 Days Ago And Tried To Find An IR Filter In The Lense ...UnFoutunatly I think i found it but i didnt want to ruin the lense, so i decided to dig for my web cam and luckily found that its lense was the same hreading as the mini cam so i just traded it out and it worked perfectly

BTW, If you use an IR laser instead of LED's, you can focus a spotlight about 200 ft away. Just don't shine it too close to human eyes.

I put mine on on an aluminum arm and shoved it into a hole in my yard, it got attacked by a racoon. I added an eyepiece from the spy video car so its portable.

the wire's are
colored green orange red brown
blue wite and a few look like
coax cables

can you tell me where you got all the parts? i cant find any 200 milliwatt triple LEDs or photo jacks. also, can you specify what type of 10 ohm resistors you used?

i have a camera very similar to yours but mine is color... would it still work or do i need a black and white one?

kipkay you should really show how to make these better for noobies like myself and how to put it all together and such ;) i mean keep up the good work and do what your doing for the rewards but after that put in a video on how to make it EXACTLY unless thats too much work n you dont want to do it : msg me what you say because i dont feel like checking this video everyday for a reply haha :P

Thanks to you I had made one for my PSP Camera Night vision Mod...which it's too dark to see...but with the IR LEDs it can see much better...but I need better IR LEDs! mine not good enough!

First let me say I love your stuff. I built an led array for my nightvision to get better light and figure out a way to hide the red glow.. mount the led's inside the project box and put a small piece of plexiglass with dark window tint on it ... the ir light can pass right trhough it but the red glow cant. just an idea... you are a metacafe madman!

I was looking on how to do this, instead of paying $500 for the goggles. I couldnt find it and then looked at your videos a month later and you had it here. It's like you read my mind. Your vids are awesome. I hope you enjoy all the money you've been making!
