This puzzle brain teaser sounds simple, at least, when I saw it, I figured I would have it solved in a matter of minutes. My mistake, it took me lots of time to figure it out. What about you? Can you solve it? Do you have what it takes? Grab a pieace of paper, draw the houses and the supplies, and start linking them. If you are able to solve it, feel free to post your solution here. If noone can solve it after a while, I'll post the solution :)
You use 4 lines, draw a rectangle. imagine the houses are light bulbs. The gas water and electricity are the batteries. You see? Took me 3 seconds, seriously. Think out of the box! hahaha

because it doesn't say you cant
HELLO THERE !!! I LEARNED ABOUT THIS BRAIN TEASER WHEN I WAS 17, NOW I AM 44...I REMEMBER I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL. AND THIS TEACHER TOLD US A THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM....IF WE COULD, WE WILL GET EXTRA CREDITS.....NO ONE DID IT.....SO AFTER 27 YEARS...I TRIED AND TRIED.....LOL...I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THE ANSWER....DO YOU IT?
By pacohoustontx 1201843974 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveJust run one of the pipes under one of the other houses. 8)
By gimmick 1201823648 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSeeing as this puzzle didn't give any rules besides not crossing any lines,
I simply....added one hand drawn magical elements quadruple adapter board, just above the electricity sign.
Which according to my calculations, has just the right amount of outlets on it to carry the water, electricity and gas between all three houses plus a spare outlet for an evil power. So I chose nuclear power as my fourth.
However i may have to now draw a fourth house, some 562,000 miles away to live in as to avoid the nuclear radiation poisoning. Gosh i kinda feel sorry for those other three houses now.
Oh well. Problem solved. The end.
This puzzle can't have a solution.
I solved this in 5 min. :)
By ZUnDE 1201000780 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveJust noticed that I didn't draw last link, but also I noticed that the test is impossible to solve with 9 lines, 2 lines have to cross. But if you use less, then you can.
By ZUnDE 1201001782 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removedamn I'm here for 2 hours trying to solve it! do you have the solution?
By tsmdms 1200943762 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe solution exists only in 3 dimensional space
ΛÏνεται μόνο με Ï„Ïισδιάστατη Ï€ÏοσÎγγιση
The solution is impossible in 2 dimensions. But if you put the houses and the utilities on some sort of closed 3D object (such as a torus or cube) it can be done.
By AD80 1201909418 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethat is correct and the solution is really the 3D way :)
congratulations
It's very possible to connect all three houses to all three utilities without crossing any of the lines.
Anyone who's played the hundreds of flash games out there that deal with puzzle solving (cubes and whatnot) like this completed this puzzle in under a minute.
Yay for us monkeys.
