Neither one of the Allies won the war all on their own. If the Americans had not been sending supplies, food, arms, and money to England and Russia, England would have fallen and therefore the entire German western front could have been used in overtaking Russia in a second attempt following the failed invasion of Stalingrad.

The attempt most likely would have succeeded merely because of the fact that after being attacked again and again by the Germans, the Russian army would have run out of food and ammunitions (which they had a shortage of even with the help of the Americans).

They were not an intelligent military.
When your troops retreat for a GOOD reason, you don't shoot them on there way back. You regroup for another assault.

It really captures the loyalty to one's country and at the same time... fear of one's country. Great movie.

this is a movie, the person could have been aiming directly behind them, but with all the hollywood effects, it would always show the shot hit dead on. it would be something to se someone do this without the assistance of visual effects though. so yea, that one.

as mentioned this movie is based on the true thing. The sniper in the movie was one of the finest soilders in the world.

what air rifle if you are talking paintball a tippman with a flatline will only go 200 yards so what shitty air rifle were you using?
that was not anywere near 200 yard shots when a guy can throw a grenade at your postion he is less than say 40 yards away think about it

This is what really happened (I did some research).

Hitler needed the crops of Ukrain and oil from Baku in order to continue the war against Western-Europe. The German forces were far better equiped (they had the best military in the world back then) than the Russians. The Germans sent in 3.4 million troops to defeat Stalin. Russia had a total of 4.7 million troops. Now, that would seem enough to hold back the attackers but there are many things to keep in mind:

1) The Russians were completely surprised because Stalin and Hitler had signed a contract not to attack each other.
2) Russian officers were not qualified to do their jobs because Stalin would wipe out all the good officers whenever he felt a little paranoid. Result of bad leadership -> no victories, only defeats.

Russian reports say they lost 350.000 dead, 378.000 missing and 1.020.000 wounded. But Russian reports have the tendency to be a little inaccurate. German data says their troops captured nearly 3.800.000 Russian POW's.

Hitler took many wrong decisions because he absolutely wanted Leningrad and Moscow.

All this helped bring down Hitler and his Nazi's.
