This very simple electric motor is called a homopolar motor because the magnetic field does not change direction or strength. With only three parts, it is probably the simplest motor you can possibly make.

- ...but these are 1.5V primary cells...
  so you must mean a *less discharged* cell - I think homopolar motors have a direct speed-to-voltage relationship, so you could get CRAZY spinning if you used a lithium cell fully charged to 4.2V!!
