This is a short video explaining what perpetual energy is and a possible perpetual system that I thought of. The information that is included in this video is form: en.wikipedia.com, http://science.howstuffworks.com/helium2.htm and http://science.howstuffworks.com/question10.htm

If anyone who works in the physics field has any comments, I would be happy to hear them.

Thanks for watching!

Possible Perpetual Energy Solution

  • Bad Idea

it is easier to put a water wheal (just like in a wather mill) that drives a turbine ,
u ar using the elevetion af the watherto generat power , and that has alreadi ben invevted
    thei are cold Hydroelectric Dam

    • As you kind of half point out

This system is just an extremely complicated variation of hydroelectric power or the simpler water wheel providing mechanical power (for directly driving machines such as mills).

There is energy being input to this system from the potential energy of the water flowing in at the top. It's that simple. And to reply to another poster, the system absolutely can't generate enough power to pump the same volume of water back up to the starting point because then you would either have a 100% efficient machine that produced no useful energy, or you'd be creating energy.

Nice drawings though - I liked your colouring pens.

    • Thanks!

Great to hear some good feedback.

  • creative...but inaccurate...

it's like saying that there is no energy input in the case of a windmill....of course there is...just that in your case it would be potential energy

basically you are disregarding any outside sources of energy that have not been supplied by people....not a good idea for perpetual energy concepts...

and furthermore, the design is just plain impractical....imagine how much helium you would need to do this on a large scale...

  • how exactly would it work?

well how would we exactly make this trap door if it hit the magnets the magnets would trap the trap doors from opening and if this would hapen how would the magnets activate the trap door

  • cool idea

but even if it did work, it couldnt be considered perpetual energy because magnets do wear out after a while (i think like 400 years)... but thanks for sharing, 5*

  • I don't think you are a dummy computerwi...

You tried your best. You share your thoughts, and you gather more input. Too many of these major A-holes don't understand what true science is.
NOBODY gets anything right the first time all the time. We learn from trial and error. These pricks bash your ideas as if they could do better, but yet offer no assistance.
Present flaws are always hardest to see when you are constantly looking toward the prospects of a better future.
    keep trying. keep thinking.

  • Sorry man but this is futile invention.

I want to nevertheless encourage you to keep trying. Learn from the feedback you got here and keep trying. Hey, sometimes it takes thousands of tries to get the right results. Hey, ask Alexander G. Bell... it took thousands to tries to come up with the right filament to create the first light bulb. So don't let the criticism get you down... okay.

  • Give him some slack

The only thing I think this would need is a human powered push every 2 months. This isn't perpetual motion, but this is a very good idea. Can you please post this on Instructables?

    • I would be happy to but...

I didn't actually make anything here, also... this is not a simple tabletop experiment this would be a very large thing due to the size of a 12 helium belloon.

      Thanks for the comments!

  • explanation

The reason for the science behind how much mass helium can lift is to explain that this would not be a table top experiment but a 12 foot diameter... something, possibly a cylinder. The system would not be slow as many people think.

The magnets are there to hold the water tank up high until it has MORE water than the helium can handle so that it falls quickly. Then on the way back up, the helium will provide 50 pounds of lift to crank a geared down turbine.

This is a very preliminary explanation of the idea, I wanted to keep it short but at least get it out there.

  • Many

scientist in the past have tried creating machinces that have your perpetual motion principal but failed cus when a machine is in motion, energy can be lost in many ways e.g through sound, heat...

  • Way to go Einstein

This does nothing but convert the drop energy of water... it's a water turbine, balloon head!

By absurdistan 1201602210 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • And

why the fuck not use a spring insteat of that balloon contraption, if you really need something that goes up and down... hell, searching for perpettum mobile takes thinking outside the box, but I would only encourage thinking outside the box if first there is some proof of thinking going on inside it.

  • okay heres my idea...

Your setup does create motion that can be converted to electricity but more energy would be used to power your setup as compared to the amount of energy it would produce. you need something to give the supply of water which would require energy of its own plus your circuit would also need energy. The rise and fall of the basin of water would also be too slow to produce enough electricity. Ever tried a hand crank powered dynamo? If the movement is too slow, very little electricity would be produced

  • uhmm

why not put paddles on the turbine which is turned by the water. A much better idea I think
    Oh they already do that

By NME69 1201601831 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • hmm,

if the water is to be released at the bottom, it would require energy to pump it back. Will there be enough energy generated to do that? and how can helium lift the tank up? quite a lot of helium would be needed i think

  • We have all the makings of PM here!

Have you also considered utilising a see-saw, whereby leverage can be incorporated into the equation? Constant - Vector - Constant - Vector...
