    That first plane needed to put the nose down a bit more, as u can see it the wind caught it and it stalled a little bit. The second came in to slow. Still, major props to the pilots for getting everyone on the ground safely.

    As I'm stupid, what is the poblem in landing? Because of what ? Wind direction?
    Or the hill that existing on left side? Or uneven runway? What is the problem there?

      There is a strong wind coming from the side of the runway so the pilot must turn the aeroplane into the wind to keep straight with runway.

      Not exactly. The main problem here is not the wind direction itself or its intensity, but the turbulence created by the mountains beside the runway. It is always difficult to land on airports close to elevations like that on Madeira because of so called orographic turbulence. Unfortunately, there was no other suitable site to place an airport in the island...
