    Japan is conservative on some things (i.e. finance, business, and religious issues) and very open and liberal on others (pornography, sexuality, fashion trends, etc). Different strokes for different folks I guess. Someday, I'll have to relay to you a story of my time in Japan involving things like this in Shinjuku. 5 *'s for some astute cultural observations, mate.

      It is one aspect of the culture I struggle to accept - because i think it is unhealthy..
      Your "different strokes for different folks" attitude is the only way to go (and sounds a bit like "sho ga nai" !)
      Shinjuku.. now there is an example of debauchery condensed into a small area!!!
