Nice...
I like your ingenuity. At first I thought "wouldn't it be easier to get PVC that's closer to the diameter of the peephole?" but then I realized that your way is smarter, because the camera lens varies in size from camera to camera, so adding padding is a way to insure that this works for more people. I'm not too fond of fisheye or wide-angle shots myself, but I still give you props on the idea. Keep it up and you'll be the next Kipkay.

  Using it with video. I suppose that the camera has a little more dificulty focusing through the extra glass. Sorry, I don't think there's anything I know to do about that problem.

- I would suggest
  using a diferent lens for a camcorder. I am sure that you could get excellent results with some old, second-hand SLR lens that you could probably find at the Goodwill or on ebay for under $20. It should be easy to attach to your camcorder, because most camcorders have a screw attachment already on there.
