Snake Regurgitates Whole Hippo

The only large snake that shares the native range of a hippo is an african rock python. Anacondas (which is what this snake is) Live in South America. Look at the thing's toes as it comes out. It's definately a capybara. You can find more info on it if you spell right in google :) It's capybara, not capi. Capybara are semi aquatic...so is an anaconda. Capybara and caiman are among the adult anacondas favorite foods. So it's no shock that it ate the beast. Anacondas are by the way, THE largest snakes on the planet. Reticulated pythons get longer slightly on average but anacondas get much heavier. I have a large collection of snakes here and have been keeping and studying them for close to 35 years now and let me tell you... Snakes do puke sometimes for various reasons especially when they eat a large meal like this and then get slapped around with boat oars. Snake puke will run you out of the house. There is nothing that smells worse anywhere. Their gastric juices are much stronger than ours. EVERYTHING but keratin breaks down in it, even the bones are digested. Hair, fur, and hooves are made of keratin. Keratin does not breakdown or change when exposed to gastric acids. So basically all snake poop is is a tiny bit of waste and a whole lot of rodent fur that served as roughage for them. Snakes have a very primative digestive tract. It's a straight shot from mouth to rectum...no squiggles in the intestine. At any point, even 4 days or more after a meal, they can still puke. Snakes have absolute power over the peristaltic muscles that moves the food along and can reverse it at will. This is important because of their very slow metabolism. If because of parasites, loss of enzymes due to temperature change or illness...stress etc causes the meal to stop digesting properly, it will begin to sour and gasses will start causing bloat. If the snake doesn't puke, it will die from necrosis of the bowl from having something rot in it. In this case, as mentioned, the snake dumped the meal in hopes to be able to better escape what she perceives and probably was "predation"

Unfortunatly for this snake, I'm sure anyone with the lack of respect enough to slap it till it pukes probably didn't walk away and leave her be. I'm guessing the big girl probably lost her head soon after they were through poking at her.

the report is from Brazil, my home country. that's not a hippo. we don't have any of them around. that mammal is called Anta, and can be up to 2m lengh and 1m high. it wheights around 200kg and tastes like cow's meat.

This film is not in reverse. Snakes will regurgitate when they are threatened. A snake is very vulnerable to attack after consuming something, especially a large animal. So they will regurgitate. Constrictors, such as this one, remain curled around their prey at the beginning of ingestion. It looks similar to the act of killing. This snake is not currled around it's prey. The film is not reverse.

I thought this must have been a trick video at first, but snakes can indeed vomit. They often do so if they are bothered too soon after eating. Clearly, the video shows the snake being "bothered."

this is a tapir that was eaten. hairless so it's not a capybara, an not a pygmy hippo or hippo because they have 4 toes on all feet. 2:09 look at the snout, tapirs have a ant eater like snout. 1:12 look at the feet, 3 toes(proving it's not a hippo, capybara and tapir(anta) both have 3 toes).

tapirs exist in brazil/south america an are a staple of anaconda meals, as are deer, capybara, birds, caiman, etc.

I can see the confusion between a tapir and a pygmy hippo, not a cabybara though they are brown hairy snub nosed and not shiny/slippery.

that animal is obviously too small to be a hippo; hippo's average 11 feet in length and weigh up to about 7,000 lbs. That animal at most looked like it would weigh 400 lbs. Still pretty amazing though

I am a snake expert. Thats definetly an anaconda because of the coloration and pattern of its belly. But anacondas and hippos don't live in the same region so i'm guessing they either brought over the snake or the hippo to the indegineous region of the other animal.

But what happend after that is the hippo got back on his feet and hopped away.

Their mothers must be so proud that they bugged the hell out of a giant anaconda so much it regurgitated it's food. My snake has done that a couple of times. With mice though obviously, not a whole capybara (which is what I think that animal is..thanks David Attenborough). It only happens when he gets pissed off during or just after eating. Some snakes do it if the food doesn't agree with them, but that's incredibly rare, since they know very well what they can and can't eat.

I'm brazilian too. They say at the beggining of the video that this snake is 6m long. This is an "Eunectes murinus", we call it sucuri or anaconda. They are the secong bigest snakes in the world and they can measure about 9 m. The bigest snakes are the "Python reticulatus" wich can measure 10 m and can be found in the jungles of Southeast Asia.

This is a green anaconda regurgitating what looks to be a capivara. This snake is plenty large enough to have fully digested the rodent over several months. Regurgitating such large prey is potentially dangerous to the snake, since the animal is not positioned head-first, as it is while being swallowed. Unfortunately for the snake, it had a run in with a group of people, sad

This looked like a 50 lb Capibara. Still very impressive though how a snake can unhinge it's jaws to swallow something this large. Someone must have disturbed the snake for it to regurgitate like that. I saw footage of an Anaconda snake attack and swallow a 6 foot Cayman (alligator type reptile) That snake sat in one spot for almost 3 months to fully digest the Caymen.

I always thought that what ever a snake had eatened, that it would never "release" it. Unless it was ust too big for it to digest! Hmmm? Was this film run in reverse? I noticed that the french narrator was silent during that portion.
