    Nerd Time:
    When you burn somthing, it reacts with the oxygen in the air. Meaning that the other side of the toothpick still has the same weight AND the weight of the oxygen it reacted with.

    the entire system was balanced by the forks themselve and the toothpick was just an object to support the sistem..with the tail or not, it wont affect the system due to the huge difference of weights between forks and toothpick, well, anyway, its a good trick =) thanks to G
