    Went to an airshow, this thing has massive weight/thrust ratio. It just sat above the runway hovering forever! Also watched something on it where they simulated a dogfight. One raptor vs five eagles. They never saw the raptor, and they were all eliminated. It is also the first jet fighter with supercruise. On a radar screen, it will resemble a bumble bee. This thing is a marvelous piece of work!

      Don't comment on things when you have no clue about what you're talking about. Cats on the battlefield know that when it's too hairy to even look over that wall for fear of getting shot in the head, the sound of an F-16 or A-10 is the sweetest thing you can hear. Those pilots save more grunts lives than Rambo. A sniper in a building--just call in an airstrike. Guaranteed that guy is gone.

    Congressional defense appropriators have agreed to allow a multiyear contract for F-22A Raptor procurement, but decided against allowing foreign sales of the futuristic fighter after considering otherwise.

    Their conference agreement includes authority for a multiyear procurement of 60 F-22A aircraft, beginning with 20 fully funded aircraft in fiscal 2007, according to the legislation's report in the Congres-sional Record.

    The Eurofighter project has been subject to several operational evaluations. These have been carried out, independently from the Eurofighter consortium, primarily by Britain's DERA, the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (now split into QinetiQ and DSTL). Unlike many previous theoretical operational capability studies, the Eurofighter analysis utilised a true simulation approach. This was achieved through a number of networked battle simulation computers, termed JOUST, each of which can be flown by human pilots.

      The F-22 has proven it can do the combra maneuver at an airshow; Look it up on YouTube or Google video. ;) A year ago, all the anti-F-22 people said it couldn't do a cobra, now it does. An F-22 pilot said he can do all the maneuvers shown by the Su-35. Just wait and see, and then everyone's gonna feel stupid for questioning the F-22's abilities. ;)

  • Amateurs - Cobra maneuver doesn't mean j...

    In a dogfight, the Cobra maneuver is useless. It bleeds away all of your energy (speed) and makes you a sitting duck. If your opponent had a wingman, you'd be sitting pretty for him to take a quick shot at you. Stealth won't help. Stealth isn't really stealth. You're not invisible, but your radar cross section is considerably smaller. If you decrease the range from the target to the radar transceiver, your signal just got stronger. Besides, a quick burst from your guns will work fine when you're just floating in the air from this stupid maneuver.
