The Polonez in Top Gear

I am sorry, I am just a simple Pole and I am proud of ours FSO Polonez. But I would like to ask that guy does he know someting about history of that car? Those he know when We started to product it? I will tell him that - was built in 1978... DO YOU UNDRSTAND - 1978!!! He suspects that It will have GOOD handling??? He fought that it will have good look?? I think that, if he would born in Eastern Europe in 1955 he would kill to have Polonez... But you know what is realy sad? That he's threating that car like some junk... but he forgots that 25 years ago it was wery modern and facionable car. Well he also said that he dose't like how this car looks like... But I ask you a question... who like haircuts that was facionable in latest 70's ? Or who dress today like people dressed 25 years ago? Hm? Anyone like to answer that? If you would dress like, lot of people would say that there is something wrong with your mind... At the end of the film guy destroyed Polonez... why he done that??? Dosen't he respect other people work?? Imagine that YOU created something and you're realy proud of what you have done... And some son of the b....., who have no right to judge your job say "it can only be destroy because I don't like it" What would YOU do then??? Answer is very simple... Ok i have finished... One more thing - Lech Wałęsa is our national hero, and was the first president of free Poland... He risk his life to independ eastern Europe from Soviet so he should be treated with honors... but moorons from England will never understand that because they don't know what is like to be under the occupation. That is all. :(

he should compare it to some other car from 1978 and im sure that then polonez whould not look so bad, ohh and he allso didnt say anything about cost of that car is so cheap that u can buy 200 of those, and cheap parts :) however looking from perspective of today cars and time its a really really bad car. Well no1 would buy it, there is a lot of better cars know at the same price but, if some1 allready have it its still a car and works( gets u from point A to B )

You should have mentioned that Polonez production started in 1979 or so, stopped few years ago. It's awful car - that's true ;) but don't think it's current made

OMG, why are som of these Polish people getting so stressed out. Its an old, crap car that needed to be destroyed. Live up to it, the FSO is a 70's pile of crap just like the Morris Marina and other English cars too. If I am not mistaken, Clarkson has tested and destroyed a Marina and another English car I can't remember what it was. This was in his top 100 cars so don't panic, he isn't against just Polish cars if that is what you are trying to get at. He has destroyed a Ford Sierra, Corvette, Hyundai Accent, Morrs Marina, FSO Poloez, Maserati Bi-turbo, Nissan Sunny so it isn't just Polish pile's of crap, it's the whole world's contraptions of rubbish :)

This is the the best tv show ever. The hosts have real character and always present an entertaining program. The Iron Curtain is not funny, but this show sure is

wut an idiot, im polish, i agree that the car isnt that great, but ITS like 30 years old!! i dont think cars back then were built to compete against modern super cars... they were for transportation, from point A to point B, easy to fix, and jus a reliable car back in the day....OBVIOUSLY it is in condition to be in competition with new generation cars....that british bastard should take that into considiration

i am not polish, i am greek cypriot, i have many cars and 1 of them is a 95 model caro 1.5, i bought it for a joke as my wife is polish and we have many polish friends, i must admit that although this is not the best car i have ever owned it will make a really cool custom car, i am lowering it and fitting a v8 engine, i think we have to remember tho guys that this episode of topgear was a very long time ago, and to be be fair mr clarkson rips the piss out of old english, american cars as well!

So Clarkson destroyed 2 Polonezes so what - this guy has a specific sense of humor - or u like it or not. I just love it - he's comment was funny - of course the car is old it's almost 30 years old... the only problem is that the Polonez is somewhat a Polish legend. But it was a good car in its time - the safiest in its category. Anyway its just a TV show - nothing to take personally.

FSO Polonez was based in the FIAT 125, same underpan, suspension, engine and transmission, what he expects? At least is much more reliable than a Austin Maxi or a Morris Marina!

Next time I would like to see Mr. Claxon inside the Polonez to check by himself how solid the metal is!

It is sad that he didnt know that except Polonez polish engineers invent TURBO for cars engines and first turbo was installed in Polonez!!

...and other than a few cheap shots at Poland it was all just for fun. I didn't see anybody complain about the last comment about America...
Every country has its crummy cars. No exceptions.
But you've got to admit that the crane-bashing was creative.

repeat the same exercise with say
an Austin A40
or a Mini Minor
or what about any Vauxhall
same age and same crappy driving style where you break all the basic rules of advanced driving skills and then say the car dosen't handle.
Better still get a real show pony instead.

And I agree with him! Polonez is a piece of crap, I've driven it and every day it was hard to start it. It it piece of sh**!
