The gas is not an actual gas but the air that is pushed out in front of the projectile. This is used to recoil the mech and so load the new round. Same as the desert eagle of U.S or R4 of South Africa

because a lot of gas powered rifles use actual muzzle gas. it's one of the reasons they get so filthy inside: m16 family for example

At long range, the Barrett has the upper hand. But looks like if you are about 50 yards away, you'd have almost no chance against this thing.

Yes, the M82 and the AA12 are severely awesome.
They are just the most practical for the situations they are designed for.
Designers did a very good job.

metric units make conversions to sizes simpler, but empirical units are based on the sizes and measurements of things that exist.

how do they relate to real things? And even the 'foot', well, really. As you said, conversions are much easier, so if you just get used to the system, where's the drawback?
