My wife and I sailed on this vessel which was operated by "Captain Mike's Windjammer Cruises", leaving Freeport. I was watching the fresh crew do a safety check from the stern by the rudder house. The mate signaled port side and threw his up in confusion when the rudder failed to turn. That evening we were hit my heavy winds of nearly 65 mph. Much was damaged, life boats were blown away along with the davits that suspend them. The Scottish captain and his wench had us assemble in the saloon. We were told to prepare to run aground. Now my wife was upset. He said if the ship breaks up, we should swim towards the Aeluthra Islands which were 5 miles away. I still had no fear as I had dealt with much in my occupation. A U.S. Navy submarine rescue vessel came to our aid the next day. My wife and I sat in the bow facing the stern, when a wave came off the bow, lifting us both up, and off the seat. I held on to my trusty 8mm movie camera and as a result, I am able to present this movie. The ship was eventuall lost at sea with all 30+ hands in the 90's, blown to Davey Jone's Locker, as a result of Hurricane Mitch.
