They placed the V8 out of the McClaren Mercedes SLR in to the smaller and lighter AMG SLK so the power to weight ratio would be better and it was probably mated to a manual gear box as well. Yes the Enzo is fast but it couldn't compete with the modified Merc.

If you listen to the ferrari it was not hitting the red line in every gear! At some points he was short shifting. Its in a straight line too, put them round a track with 2 descent drivers! Ferrari would walk it!

the SLR car has a different body. as stated in the movie in the beining, SLK body, but with SLR engine. so, it is actually much much lighter than the Enzo, MUCH LIGHTER with a really strong engine.
