  • It depends on the principle of gradience

My son was 3 month old when we started the same type of training. There were no crying and screaming. The practice contains a lot of games and i think it depends on the principle of gradience. Now my son is 13 month old and he doesn't afraid of swimming under the water. I can send you pictures if you want to see.

  • That baby's head was 90% underwater

Sooner or later, someone's going to accidently drown their baby while trying this, and the media will have a field day.

It's a novel concept, but if I had a child, I would not want to expose it to potential trauma like this, and for what?

  • baby fat

keep in mind that baby fat makes them a lot easier to float.

  • Fat-ass babys

They float practically with no effort. LOL. I've seen some horrible shit where the parents just throw their babys into the water. Seemed a bit cruel and possibly tramatizing for the children. I think it was an actual study though. The group conducting the study was showing how babies instinctively hold their breath and swim when underwater. Of course it only happens momentarily because babies can't hold their breath for that long.

    • in the philippines

one tribe here throws their baby in the sea and if he didnt float to swim, hes considered not worthy of the tribe, this group of people are sub-tribes of the great Badjao tribe. the sea dweller (ever heard of the children in some Philippine ports where they will beg for coins from travellers inside a boat then swim to get all the coins you threw)

  • There is so much water on this planet

You should definitely learn to swim.

What the video does not show is the crying and screaming endured to get a baby to that point. How do you think it figures out how to breath as it is 'bobing up and down in the water?'

Please have a lifeguard on duty if you are going to try this - someone who knows how to give a baby CPR. Or take a class yourself.

    • its all about mums attitude

my baby is so calm and relaxed, yes when i first put him under the wsater he nearly cried, but as soon as he came up i was totally confident and happy that he ended up relising its not bad and wen on his merry way.
