Funny, but this is the perfect example of a downhill mountain bike race gone bad. What was supposed to be a downhill race with a time of about three minutes turned into a Nascar looking event with riders sliding, flipping, and crashing into each other. Finish times went from three to five times the norm for that course. No amount of downhill, freeride, or trail work seems to prepare for this. None gave up, the result being the ultimate display of riding(?) skills. Crashes, sliding on their butts down the hill, mud in every possible part of the body, and cleaning themselves and their bikes in the creek. It can't get worse than this. What a Day!

      Ya, the was a lot more video of the same. One shot I didn't put in was very sad for one of the racers. He wiped out several times and tried to hold onto the bike as they tumbled down the hill. He lost his grip on the bike an slid all the way down the hill. He crawled up for a couple minuted, got the bike, only to repeat the solo slide. By then he was totally exhausted and was assisted off the run.

      Before a race like this, most woud use mud rated tread designs. Here it didn't matter, the mud tires gummed up with clay like the others. Have fun when you get your new bike. :)

      I'm thinking of buying a Specialized P2 I love mtb, but i'm a bmx'er at heart and since they came out with these hybrid type of bikes the choice is better for me now. i don't need 3 bikes anymore to ride what I like.

      The rider at the very end that is walking and turns to the camera is my son. This video was Video of the Day on Pink Bike 12 Feb. 2008. It was actually uploaded from my web site by a 15 year old in the UK. There is more video at my web site and some photos.

      Wow that's good business right there nice too hear your son got a sponsorship I wish I had stayed on my grind when I was a little younger who knows who I could have been riding for.       He started out with the BMX, broke several bikes(except the Redline) and broke his ankle. Much to our surprise, he hasn't broken a bone since starting downhill free ride and racing. He has built a mini-Whistler over 6 acres at our place in the mountains. That's on my site as well.

      Ok so the one with the black skull cap on is your some? That's cool to have a trail in the back yard I wish I could have something like that, but the New York street are rough enough I can do my street riding and then go the the local trails to do some trail riding, but it doesn't beat having your own. I'm 33 and I hope I still have some life in these legs of mine to still do stunts, but I guess i'll see soon.

      At least you have a couple of options. We are trying to get the county and some organizations interested in some cross country trails. Right now, our property has the largest trail with stunts in the county. It's like Whistler with all the riders here- after the snow melts off!
