This obvious spoof seems to be talking about two issues here Homelessness and possibly orientation. The interview with the lady trying to wash car windscreens (Squidgee merchants in the UK) uses the classic line given by homeless people, they can not get a place because they do not have a job, they can not get a job because they do not have a place. A vicious circle indeed, and in the run up to the Yuletide season one addressed by Crisis at Christmas here in the UK. The other's like the 19 year old saying how she never thought she would grow up to be one, the man saying he did not want them near his children and the grandmother rejecting her topless grandaughter clearly parallel certain attitudes to the gay issue and homophobia.

This was played for laughs with the reporter being the learer instead of impartial, may have detracted, but even so this, like many other comedic piece had this aformentioned darker side which I found disturbing. Am I predjudiced and am I doing enough to help my fellow humans.

Had this been a real situation, especially with the squidee merchant, an offer by the TV company of a cheap t-shirt would most likely have been made to make the TV show look good, but here I leave with a third possible paralel, that of reporters working in areas of famine, what do they do when they see the starving children whilst they are eating lunch. Micheal Burke of the BBC once described such an occurence and the pathos in it.

This is a comedic spoof, but it follows the tradition of the court jester in saying the truth, but in such a way that people may not hear.
