  • Didn't read enough...

    I didn't read the video description well enough, I saw "Disaster Recovery" and stopped there... I was hoping this would show how to recover data from a dead drive, instead of just swapping for a backup drive. If you know of a cheap way to recover data from a busted drive, please feel free to let me know =P

    • Data recovery slightly different.

      Sorry RickyTheFish, you might want to check places like OnTrack or DriveSavers. Depending on the amount of damage to the drive, costs can vary. Have you tried placing the drive in a USB enclosure and plugging it into a working PC? If that does not work, DriveSavers or OnTrack would be your best bet.

      I'm sure those services are none too cheap, either... as well as there probably being no existing home solution (i.e. I'd have to send my drive somewhere else). Thanks for the response, cmsproducts; if I get desperate enough for the data on the 2 broken drives I have, I'll have to look into their services.
