  • THIS IS FOR ALL THE PEOPLE THAT POSTED I...

    I am from Bucharest Romania , i saw this race live. This video is from street racing event that took place here in Bucharest. The driver of the yellow lamborghini gallardo (500 hp v10 4x4 NON TURBO STANDARD CAR) is onoriu dan, and the driver in the subaru impretza wrx sti is Andrei Tentean (Non standart WRX STI , originally a 285 subaru 4x4 flat 4 turbo sti, modifications were made to the turbo, BOV, computer, fuel pump, intercooler, fuel regulator, intake, exhaust system, and added a NX (nitrous express system), it;s power cannot be measured precisely in Romania because we stiil do not have a 4x4 dyno in the country, nevertheless its estimated power is 500 hp) This is one of the 3 races between these 2 guys that day, the only one won by the gallardo and that is because he launched sooner than he should have so ... he kinda cheated. Andrei with the STI won the other 2 races. At that time the lambo was standard , now it is not, there were made modifications to the exhaust and few other minor stuff. Anyway i hope we shall see that car race again because gallardos at street racing events in Romania are a rare sight, probably we wont see it for some time because the owner of that lambo was recently involved in a bike crash , pretty severe. I think he is still in the hospital.... Street racing is dangerous... so be carefull.

      I wanted to upload the next 2 races, the ones won by the subaru, i could not find them unfortunately . I'm sorry that i've posted the story , some people thought that was stupid, others thought it was " ridiculoussly long " and no one wants to read it. Anyway , believe it, don't believe it, it's yr problem, i just told the truth it really happened i was there. In the real world, if you think that paying 170 000 euro for a lambo , that lambo is worth every penny , i'm sorry but you are wrong. Lamborghini is different kind of brand , as well as ferrari and pagani and whatever. Performancewise don't think that a 200 000 euro car can;t be inferior to a cleverly modified one that overall costs 60 or 70 000 euro.

      here in greece every fool you see is driving a impreza and all the other fools cant tell the difference of the WRX STI and the basic model of the impresa 1.000 cc (!) ($13.000), that's why everyone's driving it. on the contrary tha EVO is one of akind so that you can't purchase it lower than $50.000. Despite all these, even if you have an EVO or an WRX STI here it's a little common, if you ever see a lambo here, it's definitely worth 5x WRX STIs (maybe not the gallardo) what i'm trying to say people won't even notice a EVO X or a WRX STI passing beside them but if a Gallardo does, they gonna talk about it the whole fuckin day....

      i think you under estimate the engineering that goes into a lamborghini, have you ever seen itialian roads, narrow and full of turns, lamborghini designs their vehicles to sit right at home with their country. Taking that into effect the lambo which is also AWD and has an computerised hi tech ceramic brake system. Not only would it not end up in a "ravine" or ditch or what ever, would completely murder the subaru in a rally no matter what the conditions are

      WRC cars are built for one task only; rally! No way could a modified "supercar" like a Gallardo keep up on a rally circuit. A WRC car costs about 900.000$ and does 0-60 in about 2.6 seconds on gravel... It's mainly the tech of the differentials that make WRC cars so effective at what they do, and the diff's alone cost over 150.000$! Besides, Lamborghini is no longer Lamborghini since Audi took over, moved the engine to the front and REmoved the Lambo doors! :-(

      Audi did take over lamborghini but the engine is stiil in the middle ... thats right behind the seats .. not in the front... Gallardo has a v10 middle mounted , murcielago has a v12 middle monunted , both awd , and murcielago still has the lambo doors....

      Andrei has nitrous but i don't acutually know where he has the purge nossles mounted.. what u see in this video is not Nitrous purging ,, it;s actually cold watter being sprayed on the intercooler that is mounted up there under that huge scoop. This is a standard feature for subaru's.

    The Lambo has TWICE the engine size of the STi, and if the STi was tuned just a little bit it would of kicked its ass.

    BOTH cars are AWD, for those who don't know, and a stock Gallardo can clear the quarter mile in 12.1 seconds or so, compared to a stock Sti's 13.6. As for all of you guys,"Throw in some turns and the Sti would've blablabla," the Gallardo takes the slalom at 71 mph, compared to the Sti's 68.2. I'm not saying you could rally the Lambo, but it sure makes your "straight line" excuse useless. Lastly, the Gallardo runs inthe 215-220,000 range, and the Soob's price has already been posted.
    Oh, and for all their similarities, the Evo is faster than the Sti. 13.3 for the quarter, and sub-5 sec. 0-6-'s, compared to 5.3-5.4 for the Subaru. I've got my fire extinguisher at the ready.

    • Those are for 2006 cars

      The 2005 Gallardo's were not as fast, with a 0-60 of 4.3 or 4.4, and the SE edition was intro'd in late 2005, with the numbers I have up there. I believe the 1/4 mile is somewhere in the low to mid 12's. Also, it's a STEAL(yeah right) at only 175,000 or so.

      500hp is a semi-pricey mod but more than possible with the STI's... oh yeah, no where close to the 175,000-225,000 price tag of the Gallardo... so yeah, a nice not so costly "economy car" holding its own with a true exotic that false started... if the first comment is correct the gallardo only won that one time because of that early start... and yes the early start is More than visible in the clip.

    it's not nitrous dumbass. its called blow off, its located right beside ur turbo charger in the engine itself. it makes that sound when it changes gear. my friend pretty much has the same blow off and his is an STI as well.

      If you notice at the beginning of the video he goes to the trunk of his car to turn the nitrous on. You can hear the purge happening, but you don't see it for some reason. If you look to the post by torrentspeed you will see that he was there in person for the race and also confirms that the WRX has a nitrous kit on it.

      That being said it was a pretty standard race, even though 1/2 mile is pretty far. I would more than happily line up against either of them in the 1/4 mile though... or I could switch gearing out for a "bigger" run :) Too bad I'm not in Romania. It looked like they had actual police out at the event.

    The Subaru is designed and tuned for racing while the Gallardo albeit powerful is more style and luxury.

      the gallardo is a a 4WD car, plus its not for luxury, style yes but most of the body is made from carbon fiber to make the car lighter and faster and increase the handling. Yes the subaru is tuned for racing mostly rallying, BUT the gallardo is a street machine capable of hitting 200 mph the subaru even thought it is 500 Bhp is not capble of reaching the rev limit that the lambo can. Even with Nitrous Oxide the subaru would blow its engine while the lambo was hiting a trot, therefor the subaru would get its ass kicked

      the evo8 and subary STi are almost exactly identical. they have the same quarter mile time, same engine performance, both are V4s, almost identical chassis and suspension (and i mean, ALMOST IDENTICAL...like the only difference is who makes it), weight, dimensions, AWD....theyre very very similiar.

      now, unless anyone else here plays GT4, watched rally races, browses car websites\forums and some other things like that, you wont recognize the paintjob on that STi. that is the OFFICIAL rally STi that they use in rally races. it also has a turbo....but, on the other hand, it was tuned excessively and had many parts added onto it (no idea what they are off of the top of my head), and wins\has won a majority of the races it has participated in.

      just because the lambo is super expensive and ultra rare doesnt mean its god. i guess ill use the (moans heavily) Z06 as an example...itd probably beat both of these cars, and is a bit more expensive than the STi.

      any turns in that race, and yeah. the STi wouldve owned lol.

      both are front engine, AWD turgocharged 4 cylinder DOHC engines. both reldine at 7k rpms and have 6 speed manuals. the evo has 286 hp and 289 ft/lb of torque, the STI has 300 hp and 300 torque. weight to power? the evo has 11.5 lb\hp, the STI has 11.1 lb/hp.

      both also have struts, coil springs and anti roll bars for the front suspension ....coil springs and anti roll bars are located on the back suspension for both. the brakes are a few tenths of an inch off, but are very close to each other, and both have ABS. both have 17 x 8.0 inch forged aluminum wheels.

      length x width x height: for the evo, 178.5 x 69.7 x 57.1 inches. for the STI, 175.8 x 68.5 x 56.3 inches. the evo weighs 3283 lbs, the STI weighs 3315 lbs. both seat 5....both have approximately the same headroom, legroom, and shoulder room, and their turning circles only differ by approx 3 feet.
