One thing i try to remember when i'm driving is to leave enough space in front of me in case i have to "scoot-up" (in case someone behind you doesn't have enough space to stop) or to make an emergency escape. That;s scary... all you can do is relax keep your eyes open and keep a clear head. All i have to say regarding the video is - that S**ks , really does. Four lives were taken in a instant.

yes its the truck drivers fault this time, but its not always there fault. the ones who cause most of the accidents around here are the young kids who just got there licence and think they r the best drivers in the world and think its cool to speed. there the ones who r taking the lives of innocent people. its very rare to see a p plater doing the correct speed these days. i dont agree on truck drivers doing long hrs because they do end up causing some of the accidents but there not all to blame....

I myself personally was in an 18 car pile up in the Lincoln Tunnel, I was lucky as I was in the back of the accidents, but 9 were not so lucky, bless them all, shows you that you must be aware all the time.

The driver is to blame yes, but the sole responsibility for that accident is not his. If he was "tired" it was because he is allowed to work more than he should. These drivers have families at home and are willing to sacrifice themselves to send more money home. If you mandated that every shipping company hold back each worker to no more than 12-14 hours each day, these things wouldn't happen as much.

Though the driver could 've been not paying attention, i believe it is more likely that his/her brakes could have failed judging at the speed he was traveling at.
