  • good job!

but does it work?how about on a cold weather?does the fat turns back to solid?
the nicest one I've ever saw though,I was about to rate this as 5 stars when I accidentally click on a 3 star, sorry. *sigh*

    • Solution:

The raw ester is returns to the solid form in the 0'C temperature, but if you add some anti gel temperature of the coagulation is about -5'C to - 7'C. Add 3% of petrol then -10'C ;O)

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1204881261
    • What is anti gel

What is this anti gel and does it have a trade name? Also is it anti gel + petrol that brings the gel point down to -10'C or petrol on it's own?

      By briggal1 1220252511
    • Hmmmm...

In my country trade name is Skydd - thats Scandinavian product. It's fuel additive that brings thickening down. It would be .... a petrol f.e. ;o) Any organic solvent.

    • that's good news!

I see now,can I use sodium hydroxide instead of potassium hydroxide?

      By buknoy23 1204939380
    • Yes

Sodium hydroxide - yes, but no the one to cleaning pipes. Frothing substances made it useless...
Everything will bubble up, friend :o)

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1204980473
    • ok

now I know why the label only says "contains sodium hydroxide",I wonder where to get potassium or sodium hydroxide.I'm from the Philippines, where you from?

    • Sir

is it true that this will gel in 32 degrees?

      By buknoy23 1205161651
    • Sir :o)

      I have written it earlier

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1205258884
    • I'm from

a tropical country,18'C is considered cold.you said it will gel on 0'C.We do not experience that kind of weather, they say it will gel on 32'C and that's too bad for in summer months
      it can reach to 35-38'C.

    • Sir

does it need washing?is it as effective as the one made from SVO or WVO?

      By buknoy23 1205078547
    • Washing

Washing sometimes make worse the situation. The soap is falling by itself after a few hours. Important is content of the lye.
PH should be around 6. The fuel is more calorific from the lard than from SVO or WVO...

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1205259241
    • they say

washing will get the methanol and catalyst out of the fuel.Sir ,I have read that adding 5% of what they call white spirits will have the same effect,I think they call it paint thinner here.

      By buknoy23 1205290504
    • Method...

      My method is:
I am checking contents of the lye. I am leading the ester to the 70'C temperature - I am evaporating the methanol, I am evaporating water next in 100'C. I wash only at high contents of the lye with 2% sulphuric acid. That is my solution - i could be wrong...

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1205309176
    • Since

the solution is use for thinning oil base paints

      By buknoy23 1205313013
    • I mean

Is this true? instead of methanol and lye just add 5% of paint thinner will create your biodiesel?

      By buknoy23 1205312745
    • No!

Methanol lye lard = biodiesel. Add the organic solvent so that doesn't clot in 0'C but in -5'C ~ -7'C... You have to try by yourself...

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1205333500
    • how about

      recovering methanol from glycerine?

      By buknoy23 1205716000
    • What

is a 'SVO' and 'WVO' ?

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1205191564
    • it's

straight vegetable oil and waste vegetable oil

      By buknoy23 1205203683
  • Interesting....

What becomes of the darker residue at the bottom of the jar? Is it usable for anything?

    By Atomic Shrimp 1204730480
    • That is Glycerine

You can make a nitrglycerine or dynamite :D:D:D

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1204742059
    • or

use it as a fertilizer, or burn it in a specjal device (another movie from my channel)

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1204752120
  • Cost

Knowing that diesel costs $3.09/gallon, doesn't animal fat plus pottasium Hyd. plus Methanol cost more per gallon?

    By HumanH 1293152977
  • How much Sodium Hydroxide should I use

I want to use sodium hydroxide instead of potassium hydroxide as I already have this. Do I still need to use 35g per litre of animal fat?

    By briggal1 1220044209
    • I do

not recomend hydroxide of sodium. Try to find hydroxide of potassium. If you still want to use sodium try to add 30g/kg to 40g/kg and watch which one sample is more clear.
AND its grams per KILOGRAMS not LITRES. One kilogram of fat it's ~ 1,25 ltr... ;o)

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1220045745
    • Do you stir it?

Thanks for the above information. One other thing, do you stir it once you have added the potassium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide as you don't show this in the video?

      By briggal1 1220088434
    • Yes

You should stir it very hard

      By mieszalnia_pasz 1220090367
