Dolphins lead a very unique life. Some of their behavior is unique to their species and very interesting indeed. Dolphins are mammals, not fish. But like all other mammals, dolphins do not have hair. They have a hair when they are first born, just above their mouth, but it falls out within a few weeks. Dolphins have extraordinary vision, and see just as well out of the water as they do underwater. They secret an oily substance that coats their eyes, and they can see very well at night…just like cats and dogs. Dolphins have teeth. Anywhere from 8 to 250 depending upon the species and their age. Unlike humans, they do not use their teeth to chew their food. They use them to catch and hold it before they swallow it whole.
