  stuff like this saves a bunch of hassle. Even if the repair only lasts a year, it's another year of use you get out of it. I did this on a video card cooler about a year and a half ago and it still works fine.

I just did this to a fan about 5 minutes before this video showed up - It does work well - funny timing with that so I thought I'd just jot down a quick note.
