By nrx2005 1205252433 Reply Spam [+5] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeadding ice to the water make it more effective?
By just O.G. 1205252023 Reply Spam [+3] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeand nice demo !
By LUCCHINA 1205272971 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeif you decide to do this you might want to take the copper and the pump you plan on using in with you so you can make sure it will fit on both. since the place i went didnt have 2 1/4 vinyl tubing
By robertlc3 1208718472 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI used about 10 meters of 1/4″ copper tubing, a big fan, a 650 liters/hour water bump, about 3 liters of water in a 20 sq. meters room
I think the water bump is heating the water, the waters has to go trough the system with a high or
a slow speed? I would work if I used a 90 liters/hour or a 1000 liters/hour water bump?
someone could help me?

so if I add salt and anti-rust into the cooler box with the ice, this should stay colder longer?

nice work, 5 stars ! We all nedd to be cooled some times , mainly in the summer ..
By skilman 1208002681 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removefyi,,, in the Philippines there's a fan that use water and you can also put ice on it if you like, so to make the air that comes out from the fan, cooler...that's why it was called Air Cooler..But your way is much cheaper...and i'm glad to know how it works..tnx for the info.
By deiz 1207412590 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis needs to get out to "the people." For the under privileged funds or materials could be provided around the world. With Global Warming people are dying in the summer heat!
By bootlesstxcowgirl 1207343382 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHowever, if I can afford that much copper tubing can't I just buy a window unit?
By bootlesstxcowgirl 1207287798 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSure, this is going to be a poor man's luxary!

What are the Titles of the songs used in the video?
By SushiBuffet 1206484458 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt is cost effective,as opposed to runnin A/C all day, but I wonderif you have several rooms, and did the setup in each room, say 5, that's 5 fans and 5 pumps runnning all day. Not sure that's feasable. I wouldn't leave my home leaving everything running. Possible fire hazzard.
By GPTG 1205950658 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removewatch MUSHROOM FIREBALL for a cool trick

By mr tin 1205804543 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethat fan needs a little adjustment away from the ice chest? it's blocking the air.
By buknoy23 1205741150 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYes this video was just for demonstrating though.
By misterlim 1205750104 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyo the water is suppose to pass through the copper tubing also right? Wont we need a more powerful pump? Cauz the water is flowing upwards...
By zongliam 1205732863 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou may not even need a pump, it's just more convenient. You can just start sucking the water with your mouth and it will keep going (did you ever use a siphon?)
By blobyblobyblobzor 1205872994 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNope, once water starts flowing it flows, the water can even flow without the aqua pump...but if you want it to keep cycling you would want to use a pump :)
By misterlim 1205750188 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethat should stick it to ComEd..now we don't need their elec..oh wait i guess we still do..
Good vid.
once the water reaches room temature all you have here is a blocked fan. adding ice would work till the Ice melted. remember the copper was only cool because of the cooler water. Go buy a swap cooler, it will work for years
Nice try, keep thinking outside the box. it is how we learn.
that is a really good idea!!
Thanks,
diy is the new common term known as "do it yourself" ..nowadays everyone is interested in doing things on their own rather than someone else doing it for them :)

By duayne.com 1205476319 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI found that a fountain pump might work better since it generate lets heat, you can find those on ebay for under $10 too so it could turn out quite cheaper than you thought :)

By Boness360 1205386485 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe pump will create heat and can reach 120 + degrees Farenheit without the fan with the fan it will equalize at the same temp as the room .depending on pump size and gallons per hour displaced. The word is Voila
By spd2224 1205381379 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIS THAT PLAIN WATER????
By Bakuma 1205302005 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removemost water but there is some ice..barely visible though
By misterlim 1205303287 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removekeep the work up body.
By djuntion 1205297904 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei usually just place ice in a chest like you have there, but leave it open and place a fan behind it... (tilted the chest toward the fan to catch the air and run it across the cool surface)
but using the pump snf copper tubing like he has here works much better.
good job.
since the utility companies in many areas have raised their rates every year for the past 6 years or so, this could really help some people out.
if you just had a way to refreeze the ice...
2-liter bottles filled with water, pop them in the freezer... and cycle the bottles out to and from the chest of water each day might work, and save the cost of buying ice..
plus you can keep your cola cold too
Yes those are some good ideas :)
Ice melting is probably one of the biggest downfall in this a/c. but hey! for about $35 it works great :)
Thankx 5 star from me

By ktooms 1205370788 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveMake sure you use a submersible pump. Look in the garden section of the store for a pond pump. They are submersible and more powerful.
By adzim4 1205259657 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethanks for the info..I did indeed check out those fountain pumps at wal-mart and that works too..water will be circulating so I thought to myself why not just use something cheaper :)

By Becks431 1205252814 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removedo I need to put some ice into the box, if so, I will add some salt with it to keep it cool air last longer...really great idea, you just made it easy to understand how to build, I will submit this video to TricksPRO.com
By tycoyoken 1205252626 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyes be sure to add ice to the box, the more the better :) ..using salt may be a good idea but also be sure to remember that salt will be going through the coppper as well leaving a possible chance for rust. other than that the AC should last long enough to cool your room :)
By misterlim 1205273295 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removedosn't rust, only iron rusts.
By beerwalla 1205306915 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removecopper does rust, all metals rust, only diff is rate in which it rusts. Copper does rust, its the green stuff u see on old building tops
By SkyChu 1205925263 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Remove... it doesnt reduce so it only goes through half the process, so doesnt rust
By mmjtww 1206204666 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeso add anti-rust in it. Like in radiator.
