A Guy Tased By Policeman

  • Overabusive power

The cop was in the wrong. All of them have itchy trigger fingers and can't wait to taze someone. He should be fired. It could have been handled much more civilized than that. But apparently thats all what these pigs seem to know is zap first, forget about the questions.

    • This is just wrong.

This is overuse of power. The taser is intended to be used for self defense only. I ddin't see any police in danger. So, he didn't listen to the police. Who does? Police are overpaid, underworked idoits.

    • Not so fast...

we have no idea, based on this video, about what happened prior to the tazing. Typical TV - they like to show the cops looking bad and edit videos accordingly. That guy could easily have been threatening the cops. Also, the cop had the tazer out and pointed at the guy for a while before fireing, the guy did not back down at all. Maybe he was drunk, who knows. Maybe the cop WAS wrong, again, who knows. All I'm saying is that there is not eough video prior to this to say one way or the other who was wrong.

    • Lesson to be learned

That 300 pound bully saw the tazer and challenged the law enforcement officer. He figured he could bully the cop and got tazed.

What do you do if you see someone pointing a weapon at you? You back off or run for cover. What do you do if you see a law enforcement officer with a weapon drawn? you back the heck down DOUBLE!! You get the drift? Dont cross a police line ever, dont interfere with an investigation, dont interfere with a police officers job to keep you away from an area that you are not supposed to trespass DUMMY!! and dont challenge a cop ever unless its in court with legal representation. Period!! Use your head ok?

    • But...

One should question the nature of all authority and challange it. Some bad things happen, but we must accept they happen when we question authority, but we do not need to tollerate it.
I say challange cops when ever they try to tell you what to do and you disagree. The most effective police force is one which is allowed to police by the will of the people, not by force of the gun. You will be suprised by who your allies are sometimes. In my case, my snide remark got a cop pissed, but the judge put him in his place right away.

    • Yep.

That's kind of what I was trying to say. We don't know what was happening or why the cop had his tazer out, but if a cop tells me to back off or whatever, I'm going to do it. It's just that simple. Anyone who does differently is asking for a problem, and this guy in the video found out what "a problem" means.

Maybe he was a old time bullie that used to punk him in school. Is it a crime to aurgue wit the cops? I think he has a real authority issue. Would it be justified if say the 300 ibs man that was tased was wanting to comfort his lil boy after being hit by a car?

    • You don't know what your talking about.

If you knew anything about police work you would know that is is almost every departments policy to use the taser before the officer even touches the suspect. I have been tazed, it hurts but has no long term effects. If the officer goes hands on and they begin fighting, the officer or suspect will probably get hurt, possibly with long term effects. Know your facts before you post ignorant things!

By natemack 1151422736 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Speaking of knowing your facts...

If you actually know anything about police policy, you would know that creats their own policy (sometimes unwritten) concerning the use of Tasers. Perhaps you should follow your own advice, there, Mr. I've Been Tased And It Felt Good.

    • precisely..

what could be more fun than blasting someone and not killing them? (not that he has anything against real bullets either!) the worst he'll get under any circunstances is his wrists slapped and it was worth it. he'll go try it again next week. sort of reminds me of the people who go around crashing their cars on purpose just to try out the airbags. i don't know if that's still happening but i understand it was quite a lot a few years ago.

  • That's bullshit

The American police system is full of hypocrites, Its alright for the pigs to tase someone based upon verbal arguments but if a civilian tased another for the same reason, they would be thrown in jail. Regardless of the cause, this pig is triggerhappy because he was never physically threatened, so he shouldn't have used a taser on the guy; worst case scenario is the cops should have escorted him off the scene. This is why pigs should be turned into pork chops.

    • People hate cops

because people like you have been involved in circumstances that inflict negative perspectives on police. You hate cops because your friends "friend" had a run-in with the cops and he got lippy and was treated accordingly. Your dumbass never had the balls to get lippy, or you got pulled over for "no reason" and got a ticket. Be a kid, but grow up.

you are commenting out of context on a five second piece of video. What happened before all that? You don't know, cause it's not on video. What was being said? You don't know, cause it's not on the video. Like it or not, cops have the hardest job in the world. They have to put up with rules of engagement while dealing with all of the worst that humanity has to offer, much like yourself. People don't like to be policed, but an intelligent mind recognises that it's necessary. And if you think it's bad here, I invite you to travel outside the US a littel bit and see how far a "overuse of power" claim will get you.

  • It is rude to point

You can clearly see the man pointing at the cop in a threatening manner and when the cop got him again he was obviously convulsing in potentially dangerous manner - he could have accidently kicked the cop for a start. The cop was only acting in self defence from fear of being pointed and kicked at.

    • Great Point!

When you are being repeatedly tased by the police, try to thrash around in an obedient and respectful manner. Otherwise you cause the poor officer undue concern over his own safety.

Not seeing the whole incident, one can not comment on the brief 17 seconds that was shown. We don't know what led up to the tazing. If he refused to obey the cop, he got what he deserved. With it being shown on the news undoubtably there was an investigation.

I'd rather have officer's using non leathal force and weaponry in most circumstances of their routine's, because generally no one has to die accept when a perpetrator has a gun.

Okay, granted, this is a partial clip of the entire event BUT I did not see the guy do anything to warrant being zapped. He made no agressive motion, regardless of what he said; doesn't the US pride itself on Freedom of Speech? I hope the Cop was fired, he is not cut out for the job.

By OneLargeMouthAss 1146015929 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Agresiveness?

Verbal agression is all a cop need to keep a 300 pound bully in line. The cop had a choice to use his firearm but used non-lethal force to compensate for a bully jerk that used foul language and called him a SOB and told him to ef-u-see-kay himself, get it? VERBAL AGRESSION, remember when that chick cursed you out? You felt insulted right? VERBAL AGRESSION pal, what if you mother got talked to by the same 300 pound bully the same way the cop was talked to? Put the shoe on the other foot.

it's a partial clip. But here's an easy one for you - someone accosts you, you ask him to step back but he doesn't - do you - a) invite him for a cup of coffee b) ask someone to start filming and then take defensive measures c) call the cops and have them do it for you?

It sounds like you saw what happened prior to this clip, please explain it. I assume it was something horrible for the cop to go against a primary directive of crowd control, i.e. de-esculating a situation through non-violent crisis intervention. Obviously not used here. I like cops and respect their thankless job BUT when they do something wrong, we should not look the other way. ;]

    • Doubt it

Individual police officers are well protected against law suits by the department they work. If anything the guy might be able to win a case against the department but he would have to prove three things. 1) That type of procedure happens frequently 2) That the police department asks their officers to do those kinds of procedures 3) The person making the case has to prove to the court that he is actually at risk of being treated in the same manner in the future. This third one is the hardest to prove, that's why it is so hard to sue the government..

By sikatriz 1146016336 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • No Way

Point 1: Total Baloney Point 2: Might have a little merit Point 3: Total BS just like Point 1.
All the guy has to do is prove the officer responded with unnecessary force. From what we see in this short clip, it looks like the officer did respond with unnecessary force. The victim did not seem to show any signs of aggression. The problem is, we don't see the rest of what went on. The officer would need to be able to prove that he felt that he or others in the situation were in imminent danger.

By ChristianRedBlooded 1146024543 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Even if he proves that the officer used ...

The point I was trying to make is that INDIVIDUAL police officers, while on duty, are well protected by their department and by the LAW. The worst you can do to an individual police officer is get his ass fired.... if you want any kind of money for what happened to you, you have to go after the municipal, state, or federal government by proving the three things I listed before. You won't get a single dime from the police officers pocket NO MATTER WHAT YOU PROVE.

By sikatriz 1146028940 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • oh

and it seems like you also don't know how hard it is to prove excessive force. Trust me it is far from easy. I mean come on.... we have all seen the videos where the victims or the victims families try to claim that an officer used excessive force. For example, the one video where the fat, black guy is laying on the ground, practically lifeless, and two cops beating the hell out of him. He was taken into custody and later died while in custody. Did the court find it to be excessive force????? No it was considered necessary because the black guy was still twitching on the ground. Did the court beleive he died from the beating??? No, he was fat and that is what killed him.

i live in greece altough i'm not greek and hell, the stories i could tell... once i was almost knocked down by a big bullying constantly yelling cop with machine gun, just because i put hands in my pockets during the ID check on the street; and let me tell u, it ain't a nice feeling having a huge, apparently passive aggressive dude yelling at you, waiting for a reason to hit you square in the face...
these guys should start caring less how they look in uniforms and more if they are mentally capable to handle the responsibility they have...
