    Come on people, this is a martail art that is good for exabition and demonstration. I am a 3rd degree blackbelt and am not talking shit about other martial art. I think i can kill any taekwondo guy but a guy who can really use that art will probably kick my butt. I think it is not the martail art that make a person fight good, i think it is the person who is using that art

    you guys think this stuff is easy to see coming. First of you're in a 3rd person view, if the guy was running infront of you and fairly close you cant see the WHOLE body, its easy to say these things are useless but between a trained martial artist and the average guy they kick your ass. Its so much easier to tlak shit and think your tough then to agree that some people are indeed stronger and better then you in the art of fighting..

    Martial arts is not supposed to be used to go out and beat people up, but its to build character.. If anyone goes into martial arts to learn how to kick some ass, then chances are their attitude will lose the fight for them regardless of their skill.. Isnt that where the saying mind over matter comes in?

    i have just gained my black belt in TaeKwonDo and my son who competes in sparring tournements at last testing became a black belt 2nd DEGREE!!! there are no DANS!! in TaeKwonDo. if you are danned then stick to your crap Judo or Jujitsu.

      Yes there are. I dont know what taekwondo you do, but i am a first DAN black belt in Taekwondo, and i even have a Kukkiwon certificate stating that i have my "1st DAN". I do olympic Taekwondo and we have DANS, not degrees. I dont know fully whether or not the non-olympic TKD sports call them degrees, but we do have DANS.
      lol, my framed kukkiwon certificate (and even my kukkiwon blackbelt DAN licence) state i have my 1st DAN, not degree in TKD.
      This is a segment from my certificate:
      "This is to certify that the person named above is a holder of Dan grade registered in the Kukkiwon."
      So in conclusion, yes we do have DANS Mr Dbo

      Actually there are "dans" in Taekwondo. How could you become a black belt and not know that? Obviously because you learnt it in an English speaking country where they call it "degree" instead of "dan." (By the way it's not pronounced like the name, Dan, it's closer to "dun" but keep the vowel sound short). Anyway, if you're going to learn a Korean sport/martial art, maybe you should make an effort to learn a few related words.

      the high kicks give grand space/time for getting a heavy counter attack. normally a low kick in the leg.

      High kicks are for show or tournament. Taekwando is definitely not.

      one thing i'd like to say is that we should differentiate between sports and martial arts. taekwondo is korea's national sport (not martial art) but it comes from a long history and is said to originate from tae kyun. anyway, what these guys are doing is impressive, but is far from a fight on the street. but that's not saying they can't handle themselves. i've trained in korea and they have taekwondo clubs in every neigbourhood, most of them shit. black belts can't even tie their belts, they don't know any forms/patterns (kata for those who know japanese) but they are hell flexible and great at kicking. (for serious practitioners, find a good school or look for tangsoodo/ subahkdo. ) anyway, i'm blabbing. hope there was a point in there somewhere. PS. in countries outside of korea, taekwondo is mainly taught as a martial art, not as a sport.

    This sort of stuff is why i left my last club, i always realised that i would soon come to a point where they would no longer be able to train me in new techniques like these unfortunately, was always something i loved was knowing there was something new, lost interesting when i started to realise i was coming to the limit of what they could teach me :( awesome vid, wish i could have had the chance to go that far!

      well.. half of the fights were 'choreographed'.
      The fights without padding, gloves or protective armor were choreographed martial arts performances. SO IT'S FAKE! :)

      The padded ones were actual tae-kwon-do tournaments. Full contact sparring. No fists though.

      it's cool seeing some of their kicks cleanly connect... the other person gets fucked up!

  • Mixed Martial Arts Fighter

    I used to pratice Isshin Ryu Karate (Okinawan American history... read up isshin ryu for more details).

    I fought in mixed martial arts tournaments (Kung Fu, Shotokan, Tae Kwon Do), not full contact, because that is much different.

    Just to mention, Tae Kwon Do has a big big big weakness in the world of mixed martial arts, they don't really know how to use their hands for attack and defence, so if they prepare for a kick, and you use a charging defence, they usually are left very vulnerable. In fact, I won all my sparring matches using hands only, straight jab, hooks.

    Also, since I did practice Tae Kwon Do for a year, I did learn a lot (respect the art). I will mention, up to the intermediate level, judging by their feet, it's very easy to guess what they are doing. In my sparring matches, when I see a kick, or a chain of kicks coming, which I do not think I can defend, or counter, I do not run away, in contrast, I often charge and push the opponent over, since they aren't used to this legal tactic, they often lose their balance bad, and fall down hard.

    But Tae Kwon Do trains you to be quick and agile with kicks, which is always good, in a karate/tae kwon do tournament (of course, full contact is quite different).

    Conclusion, Tae Kwon Do has foot techniques which are fabulous, but the weakness with the hands makes it a weak form in mixed martial arts tournaments.

      Where i am learning taekwondo we learn very many hand techniques and blocks specific to different attacks. But thats probably because my instructor has trained in Aikido (oh dear, spelling), judo and karate aswell.

    I'm going to have to agree with some people in here in that yes this is impressive, but that stuff is more for show than anything else. Those fancy kicks will get you your ass kicked in a real fight. That's why there isn't a fighter like that reigning supreme in the UFC or in Pride FC because that crap will get you no where. But it sure is pretty to look at. :)
