A mathematical explanation of why 9/9 most accurately equals .9 repeat instead of one. Comment the video please. DO NOT FLAME THIS VIDEO, if you think I am wrong explain why mathematically. Simply saying I am stupid or my theory is wrong does not prove your point. Please rate and comment this video. If you like this video then subscribe!

9/9 Does Not Equal One

  • Logic a bit off

I think you're relying a bit too much on the "calculator" version of things. "0.9 repeating" is not a perfect number. It's flawed, because no matter how many nines you have, it will never be completely accurate. You would need to add a 1 to the last digit of the infinite string of numbers. The error is from the fact that we use a base 10 system. If we used a base 9 system, then 9/9 would fit evently into 1. And in that system, 1/3 would no longer be "unobtainable" on a calculator, but our sense of 1/2 would be all ascew!

A much more concise way to look at it is:

    x/x = x

  • 9/9 is 1

All that "It doesn´t happen 100% of the time" stuff is just bs. The whole concept of the video is wrong. Sure, I see the whole pattern of your 1/9=0,11111... and all, but it is just wrong. the ONLY reason that 1/9 is 0,111111 and 2/9 is 0,22222 is because you cannot divide those numbers into a number with an ending. Therefore, instead of even using 0,1111111, the correct way to calculate with such a number is to use this (1/9) instead. 9/9 will ALWAYS be 1, and "sometimes it will be 0,999" is just plain wrong.
If we have to take it kindergarden style, it gets really simple:
Nine persons have to split 9 apples. How many apples does each person get?
Everyone gets 1 apple. And if they aren't complete morons, they will get 1 apple each every time, so the "not 100%" concept is pretty much just not an option.
Saying that 9/9 isn't 1 is just as wrong as saying 6=7.

  • Interesting....

You are pretty clever... however I suggest you thinking about going to the media or becoming a lawyer because in these two professions you can even prove day as nite or nite as day...

I have a friend who proved 6 is equals to 7 using the same mambu-jambo sh!t...

But it takes a lot for someone to come out and present something like that so I have to hand it to you for the effort.... however useless its still shows you have brains...

    but don't polute others....

    • Wrong...

you cannot prove 6 =7. In the case of this video, I am exploiting a mathematical oddity. The point is, 9/9 equals both 1 and .9 repeat. The reason is simple .9 repeat equals one. The difference between the numbers is .0 repeat 1 which doesn't exist. This is a hard subject to explain but basically you can say the numbers equal or there is a difference of .0 repeat 1.
