In the trick, Copperfield seems to move from the suspended platform & the girl seems to move to the suspended platform. The 'explanation' does not explain this.

David got off the platform before it got suspended and another girl is on the other side of the platform that is suspended. (There was another girl dressed up to look almost like her.)
