I timed my try with the 'cube' ..gave up after 4 years, 2 months, 6 days, 14 hours, 3 mins and 27 seconds .. so I guess this kid beat me?

this kid is pretty fast. what you do is once someone finishes it you come and twist it up again, i know i did when my dad solved it. he was so pissed that he grounded me lol

I did it once. When i was in 8th grade, I solved the thing in about an hour and a half for a girlfriend.... Never have been able to do it since.

it might be a robotic cube, i looked closely, the kid's hands just pushes sides and the cube swiftly moved. or it could be a slow robotic cube with a slow timer and with fast foward.

obviously hes asian only they can generate enough brain power lol

it is impossible for a 6 year old to solve that cube without even seeing it proprly. this video has be reversed. the truth is that the kid was given a brand new solved cube and time was set to 37sec. the timer was counting reverse. than all kid have to do is turn the cube as many time as he could till the time comes to 0 and then keep the cube on table (the kid appeared to be picking up cube at 0 sec. when video was reversed). some editing might have done in adobe premiere. that was all...and u people think thats amazing....

i solve the cube myself when i was 8, matter of fact i solve it in 10 second.... ;p ... beat that. Well, there is a logical reason why i can solve it that fast is because when i bought it .. i twist it 3 time and to solve it i reverse my 3 twist and dadahhhhhh !! cube solve in less then 10 second. hahahaha Ok, i S**k in this cube thingee but damn . .that kid can really do cube

back in 1984, my roomate and I got a cube each and played with them for awhile. Eventually we (mostly him, but I did help) came up with three algorithms. One was a set of moves that would change one corner without upsetting the other corners, one would change an edge without changing any other edge or corner, and the last one was for the centers. With those three algoriths we could solve any cube in under 5 minutes. Some of the patterns I saw the boy making looked really familiar.

We met another student, though, who could solve the cube in (probably) the least number of twists. I actually saw him do this. I messed up a cube good, and he solved it in 12 twists. Nothing geeky about the guy either. He looked like he rode motorcycles he built himself.

BTW, covering a yellow center with a carefully cut white mailing label can give you minutes of entertainment.

Most of us just sit there staring at the cube.
We are afraid to make mistakes, so we never try to manipulate the cube randomly.
That's why we can't "solve" it that fast.

to follow in solving a rubik's cube puzzle, given any initial formation? I have no idea myself, but seeing the boy play, it looked like that he constantly got cues for the next move... also do different initial states constitute different levels of difficulty? intuitively, it is a yes, because you can always twist only once from the done state and it takes one step to restore. But is it true that beyondcertain number of twists, the compbination would quickly/ esponentially approach a certain level of difficulty in solving the puzzle and additional twists would only giving dimishing effects? ...

where people compete for speed, they'd finish in some 30-40 secs. they even do it with their *FEET* and it's just same as fast. i'm serious i watched this show about 20 years ago. did anyone see it too?

me and a friend once each bought a rubik's cube and spent an entire year trying to see who could finish faster. day after day we would break each other's records, and my personal record is 1 minute and 14 seconds- once you know how to do it, its really about hand speed, and maybe a little bit of luck as to where the colors are on the cube- but the people who can do it in like 40 seconds or less just have the gift!

well im also azn but there are patterns to solve it. im not sure if this kid used patterns cuz you can;'t really see what he sees (his side) there a couple ppl in my school who can solve it and im like second fastest but the only one who didn't use the internet to figure out how to solve (those cheaters...)

Kids have a better grasp of spatial relations than adults because they see patterns faster. (Less crap in their heads, I guess). Although my girlfriend in high school kicked my ass at 21 secs (her best time) and mine was at over 3 minutes. I've seen kids kick butt at Tetris and other spatial relation-type puzzles, too. Give credit where credit is due. Spiderboy is awesome!
