the clip here, if it is from these surfers going to the cortez bank appears enhanced to make the wave more ominous. they were way big though.

i believe
that this was on the cortez bank off of california where its very shallow out a couple hundred miles. in the mid to late 90's a very intense gulf of alaska storm generated these swells.

- Not a tsunami...
  This is definately not a tsunami. Just a huge wave. It looks like Peahi on the north shore of Maui. Might know it as JAWS. It only goes off with huge swells from the perfect direction. When the perfect storm hits people race to get there to ride the largest waves in the world.

Trick photography my friends, at the beginning watch how the board actually is above water, the idea is to go water skiing and take that video and than you transform that into a few spots in the video to give it a surf look, but for some odd reason when he surfs the pressure under his board is little, by now on the wave you should be fighting off bigger waves pushing pressure between and under the board, good try but did not convince me as I am an editor for film :)
