    ...for the Air Force, Marines, and the Navy....She's the Joint Strike Fighter...taking everything we ever learned about flight and using it....but from a maintainers stand point I hope she isn't as annoy to work on as the F-22A Raptor.

    • Cheaper is rarly better

      Even in veitnam with American rules of engagement giving mig pilots a massive advantage & U.S. jets not designed to dogfight, The mig got owned. F-4's slaughtered migs in 1972-73 & the F-4 turned like a bomber. this plane is stealthy, fast & as manuverable as an F-16. the pilot is the deciding factor in combat, American pilots have the best combat training on earth. the Su series are good aircraft, but in todays combat enviorment, they are hopelessly outclassed.

    • It also has one major flaw...

      It S**ks hot exhaust back into the intake sometimes while hovering causing the engine to stall. The F35 was designed with the second lift fan powered off the same engine and that keeps the exhaust away from the intake. The Harrier was the first of its kind to be used in combat so props for that. I believe also this jet can "super cruise" which means break the sound barrier without using after burners making it more fule efficient. Also the Harrier has a short wing span to facilitate V.T.O. and therefore isn't the best at dog fighting.

      Last time I checked St. Louis was in Mossouri, not England. The Harrier 2/ gr4 was designed in America. the origanal British aerospace Harrier was more unstable in hover, could carry only light loads in V/STOL. Harrier 2 corrected these deficencies. The F-35 can do everything the Harrier can. plus it is stealthy & supersonic
