On April 19, 1995 at 9:01 am, everything seemed normal. At 9:02, everything changed. Terrorist Timothy McVeigh parked a van loaded with explosive materials outside the Murrough building in downtown Oklahoma City, just below the child care center.

The blast killed 168 people, 19 of whom were children. This was the largest scale terrorist attack on United States soil until the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001.

McVeigh and his anti-government militia friends planned the attack on the Murrough building as payback for the government's handling of the Branch Davidian standoff in Waco 2 years earlier on the same day.

A mere 90 minutes after the blast, McVeigh was pulled over for driving without a license plate. He was then arrested for having unlicensed weapons. Before his release, he was identified as the bomber in Oklahoma City. Timoty McVeigh was executed for his crime by lethal injection.
