Location
This is held at Coopers Hill not far from Gloucester in England. The prize is indeed the cheese. The races have been run annually for more than 200 years with a few 'missed' years due to the two wars in the 20th century and it was banned one recent year as no medical cover was available. Ther are injuries every year, mainly sprains and broken bones - both amongst the competitors and spectators. One year the winner received his prize laying on a stretcher in the back of an ambulance.
